Bracell Awaits Approval from the Union to Start Construction of the Railway
According to the Union, the requests are being analyzed by the National Land Transport Secretariat (SNTT). According to the JC NET website, Bracell chose not to comment on the matter at this time. The Ministry of Infrastructure stated that the first project presented by Bracell proposes the implementation of a four-kilometer section within Lençóis Paulista (43 kilometers from Bauru), with an investment of R$ 50 million, to transport eucalyptus logs from the Project Star factory to the Port of Santos.
“Another segment, extending 19.5 kilometers, provides for the connection from Lençóis Paulista to the railway network of Pederneiras, heading to the Port of Santos, to transport general cargo of pulp produced by Bracell. The estimated investment is R$ 200 million”, the agency explained in a statement.

Authorizations for Railway Construction
“These requests are among the 19 filed with the Ministry of Infrastructure by private entities interested in building and operating new railways in the country through the railway authorization instrument. All requests are currently under review by the team at the National Land Transport Secretariat (SNTT), with 14 already undergoing evaluation by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) regarding locational feasibility”.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, if the 19 requests (along with the authorization requested by Bracell) are approved, they are expected to inject R$ 81.5 billion into the implementation of 5,420.5 kilometers of new tracks by the private sector, crossing 12 states. “The latest batch of requests within the Pro Trilhos program for new railways presented to the Ministry of Infrastructure (MInfra) reveals that there will be competition among companies for new sections to be developed”, it states.
