The unit of EDP Energias do Brasil SA (BVMF: ENBR3) is acquiring the DG solar assets through the complete acquisition of the Brazilian energy company UFV SP V Equipamentos Fotovoltaicos Ltda, a unit of the solar company GDSolar. The latter’s business includes the development of solar projects for future sales.
The approval of the transaction was granted unconditionally, CADE said on Tuesday. The systems being acquired are located in the municipality of Taubaté, São Paulo state. Their capacity has not been disclosed.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
The transaction represents an opportunity for the EDP Group to develop new photovoltaic (PV) generation projects in the country, expand its renewable generation portfolio, and attract new customers, CADE notes.
