BNDES Is Betting on National Project for Electric Flying Car Created by Startup Linked to Embraer
The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) announced this week an investment of R$490 million in a new flying car project with high sustainability, completely national. This ambitious project is created by Eve Urban Air Mobility Solutions, a startup directly linked to the expertise of Embraer.
However, this project promises to be a major revolution in urban mobility in Brazil, as it is about national technology and the costs of the new vehicle may be lower. Nevertheless, this million-dollar investment will serve to kick off the first phase of the flying car development, named eVTOL, which means “Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing Aircraft”. Model Designed by the Startup Proposes an Efficient and Sustainable Electric Flying Car.
The eVTOL, name of Embraer’s flying car, was conceived with a logistics framework for large urban centers. All this considering the reduction of pollution and noise that these locations already experience. Therefore, this vehicle will be used for short-range flights to expand the range of urban transport and overcome congestion in major centers, such as the capital São Paulo, for instance.

BNDES opens billion-dollar credit of up to R$ 50 million per client for the purchase of trucks, buses, and equipment and promises to accelerate the renewal of the heavy fleet on Brazilian roads.
However, this electric car will have high technology allied to sustainability and will provide maximum comfort. After all, the project features a vehicle with very little noise and also zero greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, it will be a very promising car and beneficial for reducing the impacts of global warming.
The Investment Made by BNDES Covers 75% of the Total Needed to Complete This Initial Phase.
According to the designers of this vehicle, the initial construction phase of the eVTOL requires a financial investment of R$652 million. Therefore, the project is viable after the investment of R$490 million from BNDES.
Moreover, since this is a car focused on sustainability, R$80 million of the R$490 invested is sourced from the BNDES Climate Fund, which aims to encourage innovative solutions. However, the remaining R$410 million from the public agency will be from the Finem-Innovation line.
Embraer’s Electric Car Will Have Great Potential for Efficient and Fast Urban Transport.
The electric car being developed by Embraer will have the capacity to transport 4 passengers and the driver, similar to conventional models. However, the vehicle will be fully battery-powered, without the need for fossil fuel refueling.
Additionally, the propellers that will be attached to the vehicle promise to have noise levels up to 90% lower compared to those of a helicopter. Therefore, we can expect fast transport, combined with sustainability and reduction of noise and environmental pollution in large centers.
Who Is Eve Urban Air Mobility Solutions?
Eve Urban Air Mobility Solutions is a startup associated with Embraer. It emerged with the aim of seeking new air mobility projects for large centers, such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, for example.
This startup, which has recently emerged, already has over 2,770 orders for electric mobility vehicles. However, they will only be delivered to buyers after 2026. It is worth noting that due to the costs involved in producing each vehicle, an electric car from the company may cost around US$3 million.
Moreover, in the coming years, it will become increasingly common to see initiatives like this, as environmental responsibility has become a significant factor affecting business relations. And you, would you buy this car?
