Project approved by the Chamber’s Labor Commission creates specific rules to expand the inclusion of people with autism in companies, with adaptations in facilities, training, and personnel management, in addition to providing measures aimed at the permanence of these workers in the market
The inclusion of people with autism in the workplace advanced in the Chamber after the Labor Commission approved a proposal that requires employers to adopt measures for the integration and permanence of workers with autism spectrum disorder, ASD.
What changes in companies
The text provides for adaptations in facilities, training, and personnel management processes to make the professional environment more suitable for the needs of people with ASD.
People with autism are included in the employment quotas for people with disabilities. The difference is that the proposal creates specific rules to favor their participation.

Autism at work will have rules in the ASD law
The Labor Commission approved a substitute by Deputy Rogéria Santos to Bill 1756/25, authored by Deputy Delegado Caveira.
The rapporteur maintained the objective but changed the legislative path. The new rules were inserted into the National Policy for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Law 12.764/12.
Previously, the change was foreseen in the Statute of Persons with Disabilities. Rogéria Santos advocates adaptations according to the actual needs of the person with ASD.
Quotas remain valid
Today, companies with 100 or more employees must reserve 2% to 5% of positions for people with disabilities or rehabilitated beneficiaries of Social Security. The percentage varies according to size.
The proposal is being processed conclusively and will still be analyzed by the Commissions for the Defense of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; and Constitution and Justice.
To become law, the text needs to be approved by the Chamber and the Senate.
