Automotive Ranking for the 1st Half of December in Brazil Has Fiat Strada Leading and BYD Song in the Top 10 Among the Best-Selling.
BYD Song Enters the Top 10 and Fiat Strada Leads Automotive Ranking in the 1st Half of December in Brazil
The automotive ranking for the first half of December in Brazil reveals a heated market, intense competition for position, and the consolidation of already well-known models among the public.
The Fiat Strada maintains its leadership with a comfortable margin, the BYD Song appears among the top ten bestsellers, and Volkswagen dominates the top of the table with three models in the top four, according to the preliminary data on registrations released this week.
The scenario draws attention not only because of the high volumes but also due to the proximity between several models in the ranking. Thus, small daily variations have the potential to change important positions until the end of the month, reflecting the competitiveness of the automotive sector in Brazil.
-
Cheaper than Fiat Pulse, Renault Kardian, and Volkswagen Tera: with a 2.0 turbo engine of 190 hp, 30.6 kgfm torque, automatic transmission, and Swedish safety package, this premium hatch delivers sports car performance at the price of a new compact: meet the Volvo V40 T4 Momentum 2017.
-
Cheaper than a new Mobi and a Polo: with a 1.8 engine of up to 139 hp, 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission, 300 liters of trunk space, and a complete equipment package, this hatch stands out for its performance and cost-effectiveness for those seeking sportiness without spending too much. Meet the Fiat Argo HGT 2018.
-
Toyota launches “family hybrid van” with 7 or 8 seats, 1.8 hybrid engine, fuel consumption of up to 23.8 km/l, and a price equivalent to about R$ 104,000 without taxes, below the Tiggo 8 Pro Plug-in Hybrid sold in Brazil: meet the Noah Hybrid 2026 in Japan.
-
With the look of a compact SUV and the price of a rational used car: 1.5 flex engine with 115 hp, automatic transmission, 420-liter trunk, and multimedia make the Caoa Chery Tiggo 2 Look 1.5 AT 2020 an unconventional alternative.
Fiat Strada Remains Strongly in the Lead of the Automotive Ranking
The Fiat Strada leads the ranking with 6,794 units registered, maintaining a comfortable advantage over competitors. This performance confirms the strength of the pickup in the Brazilian market, especially among consumers seeking versatility, robustness, and good cost-effectiveness.
Therefore, Strada’s leadership is not surprising. The model has been at the top for the last few months and remains an absolute reference in sales in Brazil.
Volkswagen Dominates the Competition for the Top Positions
Just behind the leader, the competition is intense. The VW T-Cross appears in second place, with 5,124 units, having registered nearly 600 registrations on December 15. Following closely are the VW Tera with 5,110 and the VW Polo with 5,051 units.
Additionally, the Fiat Argo, with 5,043 units, closely follows Volkswagen’s trio. Thus, fewer than 100 vehicles separate second from fifth place, highlighting one of the most intense competitions of the automotive ranking in December.
Hyundai Expands Presence and Pressures the Top 5
Meanwhile, Hyundai also makes a strong presence in the ranking. The HB20, with 4,964 units, appears just behind the main group, closely followed by the Hyundai Creta, which totals 4,889 registrations.
The performance of the Creta, in particular, indicates potential to reach a new monthly record if it maintains the pace in the second half. Thus, the Korean brand reinforces its relevance in the Brazilian automotive market.
Chevrolet Loses Momentum but Maintains Relevant Positions
After standing out in November, the Chevrolet Onix shows a slight slowdown, totaling 4,140 units in the first half of December. Still, the model remains among the best-selling in Brazil.
The Onix Plus, with 3,816 units, maintains its position as the only sedan within the top 20. Therefore, even in a market dominated by hatchbacks and SUVs, the model remains relevant.
BYD Song Accelerates and Enters the Top 10 of the Automotive Ranking
One of the main highlights of the period is the BYD Song, which reaches the 10th position, with 3,679 units registered just in the first half of the month. This number is noteworthy because the model had registered 4,380 units for the entire month of November.
Thus, the performance indicates a concrete possibility for the BYD Song to achieve its best historical result in Brazil by the end of December, reinforcing the progress of Chinese brands in the national automotive sector.
Intense Competition Among Entry-Level Models in Brazil
Among the most affordable models in the market, competition is also tight. The Renault Kwid, with 3,061 units, and the Fiat Mobi, with 3,014, are in direct competition for leadership among entry-level cars in Brazil.
Additionally, the Fiat Toro appears with 3,106 units, closely followed by the Nissan Kicks, with 3,010, and the Chevrolet Tracker, which totals 2,983 registrations.
Medium SUVs Gain Strength in the Final Stretch of the Month
In the medium SUVs segment, the Jeep Compass records 2,905 units, but already feels the pressure from the Caoa Chery Tiggo 7, which totals 2,758 registrations. The difference of fewer than 150 units indicates a direct competition in the coming weeks.
If the current pace is maintained, the Tiggo 7 could also reach a new monthly record in Brazil, further increasing the presence of Asian brands in the automotive ranking.
Automotive Ranking Reflects Competitive and Dynamic Market
The survey from the first half of December shows a highly competitive market, with the Fiat Strada firmly established in the lead, a strong presence of Volkswagen at the top, and consistent progress of the BYD Song among the best-selling in Brazil.
Thus, the second half tends to be decisive for adjustments in the automotive ranking, especially in a scenario where small daily variations can redefine positions and consolidate new records in the Brazilian automotive sector.
