BYD Plug-In Hybrid SUV Arrives in Brazil with Advanced Technology, New Multimedia Center, Expanded Electric Range and Updated Safety Package, but Keeps Price Above Main Rival in Segment.

The Brazilian plug-in hybrid SUV market gains a new highlight with the arrival of the BYD Song Pro 2026, debuting with technological advances, greater energy efficiency, and an enhanced safety package.

Officially launched this month of July, the model arrives in the country available in GL and GS versions, with promotional prices of R$ 189,990 and R$ 199,900, respectively.

Despite the innovations, the price of the Song Pro 2026 still remains above its main competitor in the segment, the Toyota Corolla Cross.

Hybrid Engine and Performance of the BYD Song Pro 2026

In the new BYD Song Pro 2026, one of the main differentiators is the plug-in hybrid engine.

The system combines a 1.5 gasoline engine with 98 hp and a front electric motor, providing a total power output of 223 hp for the GL version and 235 hp for the GS.

With a torque of up to 43 kgfm, the more complete version offers improved performance and more vigorous acceleration, reinforcing the Chinese brand’s commitment to technology and performance.

Furthermore, the electric-only range is impressive: the GL version can travel up to 49 kilometers without consuming gasoline, while the GS reaches 68 kilometers, a direct result of the 18.3 kWh battery installed in this configuration, superior to the 12.9 kWh battery in the base version.

ADAS 2 Safety Package and Embedded Technologies

The update of the BYD Song Pro 2026 also stands out for its new safety and driver assistance package.

The model brings, especially in the GS version, the ADAS 2 package (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), which includes features such as adaptive cruise control, emergency autonomous braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane keeping and centering assistant, automatic high beams, and stop-and-go function, aimed at making driving easier in urban traffic.

These items place the Song Pro 2026 in a competitive stance compared to rivals from other brands, while also enhancing its appeal for families and drivers who prioritize active safety.

Another innovative element is the ICS 3.0 multimedia center, which features faster navigation, a modernized graphical interface, and integration with popular applications like YouTube and Zoom.

The presence of this technology highlights BYD’s focus on delivering a superior connectivity experience, a feature particularly valued by consumers looking for convenience in everyday car use, whether for urban journeys or long trips.

Design, Dimensions, and Interior Space of the BYD Plug-In Hybrid SUV

In terms of design, the Song Pro 2026 maintains the striking and imposing lines of the previous generation but introduces the exclusive color Cosmos Black, expanding the options and reinforcing the sophisticated character of the hybrid SUV.

The model also impresses with its generous dimensions: it measures 4.74 meters in length, 1.86 meters in width, 2.71 meters in wheelbase, and 1.71 meters in height.

The trunk, with a capacity of 520 liters, positions the hybrid SUV among the most spacious in the segment, making it attractive for families and people who frequently travel.

Commercial Conditions and BYD Operations in Brazil

The commercial policy adopted by the brand includes additional benefits for the first buyers, such as free insurance and valuation of used vehicles in exchanges, in addition to celebrating the start of operations at BYD’s factory in Camaçari, Bahia, which has been conducting vehicle assembly tests since the first half of 2025.

The investment in the national market accompanies the growth of the electrified car segment, which has seen a steady increase in registrations since 2022, according to data from the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea).

Price Comparison: BYD Song Pro 2026 and Toyota Corolla Cross

Despite all these attractions, the BYD Song Pro 2026 maintains a price higher than the Toyota Corolla Cross, its main rival among medium hybrid and flex SUVs.

In July 2025, the Corolla Cross starts at R$ 170,790 for the XR 2.0 flex version and goes up to R$ 215,990 for the hybrid version XRX Hybrid Premium 1.8.

This means that the entry-level version of the Song Pro costs nearly R$ 20,000 more than the Corolla Cross XR, even offering greater electric range and more onboard technology.

The price difference raises important questions about cost-benefit.

The Toyota Corolla Cross, produced in Brazil, maintains flex engines of 177 hp (in XR, XRE, XRX, and GR-Sport versions) and offers a hybrid option with 122 hp with even more efficient consumption, in addition to having an extensive dealership network and a tradition of after-sales service, factors that weigh in the purchase decision of many Brazilians.

Highlights and Version List of the BYD Song Pro 2026

The growing electrification of the national market favors models like the Song Pro, which combines the power of an internal combustion engine with the efficiency of an electric motor.

However, the price range and BYD’s premium positioning indicate that competition in the segment will remain fierce, requiring consumers to pay extra attention to compare equipment, range, and resale values.

Given the advancement of automotive electrification in Brazil and BYD’s growth in the segment, the price difference between the BYD Song Pro 2026 and the Toyota Corolla Cross reignites the debate: is it worth investing in a more technological plug-in hybrid SUV, or is the balance of price and tradition of the flex/hybrid competitor the preferred path for Brazilian consumers?

Enfim, fica a sugestão.

Outra obs: Concessionária: “Vendedores sem autonomias”
