Sustainability, Innovation, and Impact Results Drive the Automotive and Energy Sector in Brazil

The BYD Brazil officially announced, on August 20, 2025, its Sustainability Report. The document reaffirms its prominent role in the global and local energy transition.

With ambitious goals, the company aims to halve its carbon emissions by 2030. The report details actions implemented in electric mobility, clean energy, and green logistics.

The company establishes itself as a pillar of the new low-carbon economy. Each initiative strengthens the company’s image as a global leader in sustainable innovation.

Climate Goals and ESG Strategy Gain Strength

The report follows the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). It confirms the strengthening of the company’s ESG strategy in its national and international operations.

The company aims to contribute to a 1°C reduction in the global average temperature. Among the commitments made, the goal of cutting CO₂ emissions by 50% by 2030 stands out.

BYD invests in robust urban mobility solutions, such as electric buses and the SkyRail monorail system. It also expands the use of photovoltaic modules and lithium batteries.

In the industry, electric industrial vehicles make logistics more efficient. This integrated approach reinforces the company’s mission to accelerate global decarbonization.

The company seeks to make the future cleaner, smarter, and more efficient. Innovation is at the heart of every decision made by the company.

“DREAMS” Philosophy Drives Actions and Governance

The “DREAMS” philosophy structures the company’s operations around six pillars: Decarbonization, Revolution, Equity, Alliance, Morality, and Shared Value. This vision guides all actions.

The Double Materiality methodology allows the company to understand the ESG impacts on finances and society. It also measures the effects of operations on the environment.

Tyler Li, CEO of BYD in Brazil, highlights the impact of investments in the country. He emphasizes the role of innovation and responsibility in the company’s operations.

According to him, “Every step taken is guided by the conviction that it is possible to grow responsibly, accelerate decarbonization, and create value for society as a whole.”

The report demonstrates the commitment to transparency in the face of challenges encountered in 2024. The advancements and lessons learned were also shared in the document.

Environmental Advances and Social Impact Accelerate Transformation

BYD achieved its zero waste goal at the factory in Campinas (SP). In addition, it conducted the first greenhouse gas emissions inventory.
At the same time, over 2.5 million solar modules were produced in the country. In this context, the company advanced in circular economy and waste management.
Therefore, electric forklifts and battery recycling centers complete the effort. Thus, sustainability has been integrated into the company’s operations routine in Brazil.
On the social aspect, the workforce grew by about 80% in 2024. In addition, the company partnered with SENAI in Bahia for professional training.
Finally, the culture of safety and occupational health was reinforced across all units. With this, the company strengthened its commitment to the well-being of its employees.

Global Recognition and Structured Growth

In China, in addition to expanding its operations, the company created the Strategy and Sustainable Development Committee. In addition, it appointed BYD’s first Chief Sustainability Officer in its history.

In Brazil, the company celebrated four years of adherence to the UN Global Compact. As a result, in 2024, it began construction of the largest industrial complex outside Asia.

Currently, the new factory is located in Camaçari, Bahia. With this, the unit will be essential to expand national production and supply the international market.

BYD also leads the electrified vehicle market in Brazil. In fact, over 76,000 units were sold in 2024, with emphasis on the Dolphin Mini.

At the same time, the company expanded its dealership network and strengthened charging infrastructure. In addition, it participated in the delivery of the first train of the Line 17-Gold of the São Paulo Metro.

The BYD Dolphin Plus received the Latin NCAP award. This recognition, therefore, highlights the company’s commitment to safety in electromobility.

BYD reached the 10th position in the national passenger car sales ranking. In other words, it sold seven out of ten electric vehicles sold in the country.

Finally, Tyler Li concludes: “With the support of our employees, partners, and customers, we will continue transforming ideas into solutions and challenges into opportunities.”

He reinforces BYD’s commitment to Brazil. Therefore, the company will continue to lead the sustainable revolution with responsibility, innovation, and fair development.
