The Battle Between Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Will Be Fought in the Electric Field
The Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic’s main rival, is one of the best-selling sedans in Brazil in 2022. However, the 11th generation of the Honda Civic will arrive in Brazil ready to take its place. The battle between the lines, which began many years ago among combustion models, will now also be fought in the electric field.
The Impressive Numbers of the New Honda Civic Hybrid
The Honda Civic hybrid presented here arrives with impressive numbers to maintain its legion of fans. The car surprises both in performance and fuel economy, key bets in the personal fight against the model from Toyota — which will also change in 2023.
Honda claims that the e:HEV system present in the Honda Civic hybrid “delivers accelerations typical of sports models, in addition to reduced fuel consumption.” According to the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program from Inmetro (PBEV), the sedan is capable of running 18.3 km/l in the city and 15.9 km/l on the highway.

When it comes to efficiency, its mechanical set, formed by a 2.0 gasoline engine, offers 143 hp of power and 19.1 kgfm of torque, and an electric motor, capable of delivering 184 horsepower and 32.1 kgfm of torque. This latter motor serves as a generator of energy for the IPU — Intelligent Power Unit — a set of lithium-ion batteries positioned under the rear seat.
Technology and Safety Presented by the Civic e:HEV
The Civic e:HEV features resources aimed at comfort and interactivity, such as front seats with multiple electric adjustments for the driver and passenger and a body stabilizer, key with remote engine start, 9-inch multimedia center with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, the vehicle has dual-zone air conditioning with camouflaged front diffusers, voice assistant, 10.2-inch digital dashboard, rear seat with folding backrest, wireless charger for cell phones, illuminated air diffusers, and USB ports in the back, sunroof, and intelligent windshield wipers.
When it comes to safety, the automaker equipped the 11th generation of the Civic with Honda Sensing, which will bring the following state-of-the-art features: adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking system, lane keeping assist system, road departure mitigation system, and automatic headlight adjustment.
