Toyota's new electric car, which came to unseat competitors Porsche and Lotus, has a low and wide silhouette and shows proportions that resemble those of a mid-engined thermal sports car

Automotive giant Toyota will not leave sports cars behind in its leap into the electric car. They demonstrated this with the launch of the electric sports car that took place at the conference that the brand held with Akio Toyota himself as the protagonist. Toyota has shown the world that they are not too far behind other manufacturers in terms of electric cars, and is aiming to displace Porsche and Lotus.

The electric sports car that bears the insignia of the brand's sports division, Gazoo Racing, is one of 14 electric cars that the Japanese company has unveiled. Toyota presented various types showing concepts as diverse as an electric pick-up truck, a small and full-size urban electric car, various SUVs and even the Toyota e-Palette, as well as vehicles for shared mobility platforms. Check out the video below.

However, one of the most striking is the yellow sports car organized among the rest of the models present at the conference, chaired by AKio Toyoda himself, CEO of the Toyota Motor Corporation group.

According to the CEO of Toyota, โ€œall the models present here will be launched in the coming yearsโ€. It is true that the brand has not mentioned anything about this model directly (or any other present there), but showing it to the public has revived the most passionate part of the Japanese company, commenting only that โ€œfans of cars like Akio Toyoda will definitely not be disappointed. At the moment, we don't even have a nickname to address him.

And it should be noted that Toyota, both as a manufacturer and as a large automotive group, enjoys a strong passionate component, the main responsibility for this being Akio Toyoda himself, who a few days ago was seen on the circuit driving the Toyota GR Yaris very aggressively.

With a low and wide silhouette, the sports car shows proportions that resemble those of a mid-engined thermal sports car. To replicate the behavior of that gasoline and thus refer to MR2, the brand could choose to provide this electric sports car with a battery stacked behind the cabin, in order to leave space on the rear axle of the electric motor.

Toyota's electric sports car was not the only car of its kind presented today by Akio Toyoda, as it shared space with the Lexus Electrified Sport, the spiritual successor to the Lexus LFA, a sports car that, if all goes according to plan, will have solid-state battery technology to offer a range of 700 kilometers.
