Kroma Energia Plans To Invest In Municipalities Of Ceará. The Company Will Produce 750 MW Of Solar Energy And Create 1,500 Jobs For Local Professionals.
The municipality of Jaguaruana, in the state of Ceará, will receive a new investment of R$ 2 billion for the installation of a solar power plant. The project belongs to Kroma Energia and, in addition to generating electricity, promises to create around 1,500 new jobs, with at least half of the opportunities filled by local residents, as assured by the company’s co-founder, Rodrigo Mello.
Investment Will Be Completed In 2025
With planning starting in the first half of next year, Kroma’s solar park in Ceará is expected to be built in phases, with construction starting in the second half of the same year.
The estimated completion of the first phase of the investment in solar energy in Ceará is set for January 2025, delivering 250 megawatts (MW) of power. Between 2026 and 2027, the remaining 500 MW will be released.

Saudi Arabia is building in Oxagon a US$ 8.4 billion mega green hydrogen plant with 4 GW of solar and wind energy, 5.6 million solar panels, and capacity to produce 600 tons per day, transforming the desert into one of the planet’s largest clean fuel factories.
According to Mello, it is a project that should begin construction in the second half of next year, generating thousands of jobs. With funding approved, the executive of Kroma Energia states that the first half of 2023 will be solely for planning. Everything has already started, but the company is preparing to begin in the second half.
The company’s co-founder also explained that Kroma is working with financing from the Bank of the Northeast, carrying out part of the R$ 2 billion investment through equity. The executive emphasizes that financing will come partly from the institution and the other part will be equity.
Project Is Expected To Create 750 Jobs For Residents Of Ceará
Regarding the job creation in the solar energy project in Jaguaruana, the executive stated that the initial stages should bring good numbers for the local market, generating an even greater number of vacancies. Mello highlights that the project in Ceará can be essential to increase the average salary in the municipality due to the level of qualifications required for the positions available in the solar park.
In total, of the 1,500 job vacancies created, 750 are expected to be filled by locals, claims Rodrigo. The solar project has phases with very high employability and significantly boosts the city.
Once the project is completed, the legacy is certain, as Kroma Energia leaves qualified professionals with salary levels generally higher than average, raising the standard, as happened in Quixeré. The company has a lot of trained people. The employability in this first phase is very high and the preference is for local labor.
New Investments In Solar Energy Are Expected To Arrive In The State By 2023
In addition to jobs from energy generation projects, the company is already planning to open an administrative office in Fortaleza in the coming years. However, there is still no forecast for the investment or its size.
Mello stated that Kroma Energia plans to invest in a new solar power park in Quixeré, serving as a natural continuation of the project that will begin in Jaguaruana in 2023.
The projection, still without a scheduled date, is based on the rising demand in the sector and the evolution of the renewable energy market worldwide in the coming years, driven by the development of major markets, such as Europe.
The projects in Ceará should, however, also cater to other countries, while focusing on the Brazilian free market. However, the growing need for green hydrogen in other countries may leverage investments in clean energy. The company believes that renewable energy is the future and aligns with global trends.
