The Energy Company of Pernambuco – Celpe along with the Federal Regional Court of the 5th Region (TRF5) signed the Technical Cooperation Agreement for the installation of the solar power plant at Cais do Apolo, in Recife/PE.

The agreement was signed virtually between the president of the concessionaire, Saulo Cabral, and the federal judge Vladimir Carvalho.

The investment in the plant will be R$ 220,000 and will have the capacity to generate 60 kW. Once installed, the equipment will provide the Court with savings of 104 MWh/year, resulting in a reduction of approximately R$ 35,000 in the institution’s annual electricity costs.

Start of Construction

The forecast is that construction will begin at the end of May, with an average duration of 30 days. A total of 134 solar panels will be installed on the annex building of TRF5.

“This is a project that fills us with pride and is very important for Celpe, as it directly aligns with our sustainability vision. It is also a milestone, as it is the first public building of a justice agency in Pernambuco where we are installing a photovoltaic generation plant, as part of our Energy Efficiency program,” said Saulo Cabral.

Investment in Associated Projects by Celpe

The Company will also invest R$ 11.4 million in energy efficiency projects.

All public sector consumers, including commerce and service providers, public servants, public lighting, and industrial sector within the concession area of Celpe, were able to apply.

Sustainability

According to Celpe, the installation of the solar plant in the TRF5 building is closely aligned with Sustainable Development Goals numbers 7 (affordable and clean energy), 11 (sustainable cities and communities), and 17 (partnerships for the goals).

The Court has also completed the assembly and operation of two other self-owned photovoltaic power plants.
