The five new substations were built in the cities of Ilicínea, Campestre, Jacutinga, Silvianópolis, São Bento Abade, Jesuânia, and Lambari. The investment also included the reinforcement and expansion of the substations in Alfenas, Andradas, Boa Esperança, Pouso Alegre, Cambuquira, and Varginha, the expansion of SE Poço Fundo, and the construction of new distribution lines for interconnecting the new substation with the existing one.
According to the high-tension manager, Paulo José Clebicar Nogueira, the southern part of the State will have increased energy availability, and customers will notice a significant improvement in supply quality.

The new substations will be remotely controlled through CEMIG’s distribution operations center. The new substations will have an integrated supervision, command, control, and protection system, allowing operators to carry out necessary interventions on high-tension equipment remotely.
Approximately R$ 66 million will be invested in various modernization projects for the existing 8 substations and 11 distribution lines, aiming to integrate the Varginha 4 substation of the Mantiqueira Transmission Network into CEMIG’s energy distribution system. This investment will provide greater operational flexibility, allowing for better circuit division.
