Steel production giant in Brazil is optimistic about the national scenario and should invest millions to reactivate its steel production unit in the city of Paraná
A Gerdau stands out in the national market as the largest company in the production of steel. The company decided to reactivate steel production in Araucaria-PR, a unit that has been operating with reduced activities since 2015. The company promises to invest R$ 55 million and generate many direct and indirect job openings.
The company announced, this Thursday, that due to the current scenario in Brazil, it decided to reactivate its steel production at the Araucária unit. Steel production, as already mentioned, was disabled due to the crisis that began in 2014, causing the demand for steel to fall throughout the national territory. With that, the giant chose to keep only one unit, to bend steel.
Gerdau's investments in the Araucária unit will be gigantic, with a steel plant coming back up and running by the second half of the year. The trend is that around 300 new jobs will be created. The unit has the capacity to produce around 420 tons of steel annually. However, the restart will be gradual, producing about 35 thousand tons.
Gerdau's vice-president was encouraged by the national scenario
In a statement released this Thursday (22), Marcos Faraco, Vice President of Gerdau, highlighted that Gerdau is optimistic about the national scenario. “We are optimistic about the good prospects presented for the domestic market. With the resumption of production, the company aims to continue meeting the increased demand for long steel in Brazil, as well as optimizing the supply of products to customers across the country in association with existing capacities.”, said in company website.
Gerdau is a company that employs thousands of families, being fundamental for the sector's growth in the country. With the company's investment in Araucaria, competing companies may feel compelled to have to invest heavily in this area again, thus helping to generate job vacancies.
