From An Abandoned Car To A True Transformation Project. A Chevette Bought By Mistake At Auction Became The Star Of A Complete Reform, Documented In Detail On The Project Car Brazil Channel. Follow How An Unexpected Gift Became One Of The Most Notable Projects On The Channel.
An Chevette that seemed doomed to abandonment became the protagonist of an epic reform.
It all started at a Detran auction in Santana do Livramento, in Rio Grande do Sul. A follower of the channel “Project Car Brazil” won the car for R$ 700, but regretted it and decided to donate the vehicle to the channel’s creators.
What seemed like a “bad deal” turned into one of the most exciting projects on the channel.

Washing Machine Became The Solution
The first challenge was to redo the flooring. With no new parts available, the solution was creative: reuse sheets from an old washing machine.
The welds were done by hand, with careful grinding. The repairs moved on to the trunk, fenders, and wheel wells. Everything involved cutting, adaptations, and plenty of welding.
Without a lift, the reform was done on the fly. The car was supported on jack stands. Even so, the project moved forward with persistence.
Sheets were bent with a hammer. Welds were ground and painted one by one. A true laboratory of creativity.
Transformative Paint
After whole days of sanding, applying putty, and welding, it was time for the paint. The chosen color was metallic sand beige, a rare and elegant shade.
The painting was done at night, with a flashlight on the spray gun to ensure visibility. The result was surprising: the Chevette looked like a different car.
Then came the details: chrome parts, restored taillights, grilles painted with a metallic effect, and new rearview mirrors.
Even the original dealership plaque was kept as a symbol of the car’s history.
Interior: From Old Green To Period Brown
The worn and deformed green seats were replaced with new upholstery in period brown fabric. The steering wheel, also brown, brought harmony to the new interior.
The dashboard, previously cracked, was restored by a specialist.
In addition, all rubber parts were replaced. Windows received new seals, and the carpet, donated by a subscriber, was installed carefully. Each piece helped compose a new Chevette, closer to its factory condition.
Electric System And Final Finishing
After the bodywork, paint, and interior, it was time for the electrical assembly. Headlights, taillights, turn signals, and reverse lights were tested and installed with care. Even the wipers and the chrome parts in the front stood out.
With everything ready, the bumpers were missing. They were painted, mounted with new supports, and shiny chrome. The Chevette finally looked ready to hit the road.

Carrinho bem bom.
