Subsea 7 Received A Significant Contract From Chevron For Subsea Installation Services At The St. Malo Field, Located In The Walker Ridge Area Of The Gulf Of Mexico
The St. Malo field where Subsea 7 will operate for Chevron in the Gulf of Mexico is located approximately 250 miles south of New Orleans. It has an estimated remaining production life of 30 years. Announcing the contract award on Friday (20), Subsea 7 stated that its scope of work includes project management, engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the multiphase pump system at the St. Malo field, a 23-mile water injection flowline, including a polymer-coated swagelining flowline and water injection control system.
Project management and engineering will begin immediately at Subsea 7’s offices in Houston, Texas. The manufacturing of the flowline and water injection riser will take place at Subsea 7’s spool base in Ingleside, Texas, with offshore operations occurring in 2021. It is worth noting that Chevron holds maintenance contracts with Engeman in Brazil as well

Did You Know…
That the Gulf of Mexico is the largest gulf in the world, surrounded by land from North America and Central America. With a surface area of approximately 1,550,000 km², it has a subsoil rich in oil? There are many oil companies operating there, including Brazilians, who are very well accepted for work in the oil and gas sector. See the testimony of a Capixaba who works there here.
Craig Broussard, Vice President of Subsea 7 USA, said: “The St. Malo multiphase pump and water injection system contract is an important win for the Gulf of Mexico region. It combines the use of our newest pipelay vessel, the Seven Vega, along with Subsea 7’s proven project execution capabilities and Swagelining’s polymer coating technology.
“Additionally, the combination of SURF scope for Subsea 7 and the ongoing delivery of subsea equipment by OneSubsea will enable the Subsea Integration Alliance to work collaboratively with Chevron to unlock the value of an integrated approach to project optimization.”
In September, Chevron sanctioned a flooding project at the St. Malo field. This enabling technology application is expected to enhance the field’s recovery.
