Chinese SUV of 5.2 Meters and Up to 7 Seats Launches with Powerful Engines, Ultra-Fast Charging, Lidar on the Roof, and the Unusual Internal Oxygen System for High Altitude Travel
The Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor officially presented its new luxury SUV, the D19, a model that marks a watershed in the automotive industry in China and aims directly at the top of the global market. With 724 horsepower, range of up to 720 km, and an onboard oxygen generator, the vehicle emerges as the boldest proposition ever made by the brand.
A Monumental SUV with Supercar Performance
With 5.2 meters in length, 3.1 meters in wheelbase, and nearly 2 meters in width, the Leapmotor D19 is more than a SUV — it is practically a laboratory on wheels. According to information released by the portal Notícias Automotivas, the model will be offered in two versions: one 100% electric (EV) and another hybrid with range extender (EREV), both equipped with groundbreaking technologies in the segment.
The fully electric version features dual motors that deliver 540 kW (724 hp) and are powered by a 115 kWh battery, developed in partnership with CATL. The difference lies in the mixed composition of the cells, which combine LFP and ternary lithium, ensuring more stability and energy efficiency. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds places the D19 on par with the performance of models from Tesla and Porsche.

Another Chinese giant prepares to enter Brazil: BAIC bets on the Arcfox T1, an electric hatchback that promises to compete with the BYD Dolphin, BYD Dolphin Mini, and Geely EX2 with a larger size and a range of up to 425 km.

Hyundai launches a 7-seater ‘Kombi’ cheaper than Chevrolet Spin, Citroën Aircross, and Tiggo 8 Pro in Brazil; for around R$ 78,500 in conversion without taxes, the Hyundai Stargazer Cartenz features a 1.5 engine, manual or IVT transmission, 205 mm ground clearance, and the SmartSense package that Brazilians don’t have yet, but Indonesia does.

Fiat Strada Turbo addresses the lack of power in the 1.3 versions with an engine of up to 130 hp, CVT transmission, and Sport mode, but evaluation reveals that the best-selling pickup truck in Brazil could still offer better braking, a larger screen, and more comfort for rear passengers.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Ultra-Fast Charging
The maximum range of 720 km is certified in the Chinese cycle, but what really impresses is the lightning-fast charging: in just 15 minutes, the SUV recovers 350 km of range thanks to its 1,000V platform, considered one of the most advanced in the world.
The EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) version also does not disappoint. Aimed at drivers seeking greater versatility on long trips, it delivers 400 kW (536 hp) of combined power, 80.3 kWh battery, and electric range of 500 km. Additionally, it uses an 800V architecture, allowing for charging from 30% to 80% in 15 minutes — a remarkable achievement among hybrids in the market.
With space for up to 7 passengers, the Leapmotor D19 maintains generous proportions and high-quality interior finishes, targeting directly at the premium SUVs from BMW, Audi, and BYD.
Futuristic Design and Technological Interior
Visually, the D19 presents the brand’s new identity, dubbed “Technology Natural Aesthetics 2.0”. The triple optical set, which also functions as an image projector, the active front grille, and the LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof are elements that reinforce the futuristic character of the vehicle.
At the rear, the highlight is the continuous taillight of 1,958 mm, composed of 11,025 LEDs — a true spectacle of luminous engineering. Inside, the environment is dominated by two panoramic screens, minimalist finishes, and premium materials that reflect Chinese technological luxury in its most refined form.
The onboard system is powered by two Snapdragon 8797 chips, one responsible for the smart cockpit and the other for autonomous driving and advanced assistance features. Together, they total computational power of 1280 TOPS, exceeding the capabilities of many autonomous cars in testing phases in the West.
The First SUV in the World with Onboard Oxygen Generator
Among so many innovations, what caught attention the most was the announcement that the Leapmotor D19 is the first SUV in the world with an integrated oxygen generator. The system is aimed at adventurers and drivers traveling in high altitude regions, such as Tibet, offering up to 8 liters of oxygen per minute inside the cabin.
This solution, while curious, shows how Chinese automakers are willing to explore new concepts of comfort and health within automobiles — a trend that may spread to other markets.
The Leapmotor D19 will be offered in the colors black, gray, white, silver, and green, with a commercial launch scheduled for the first half of 2026. Prices have yet to be confirmed, but the positioning makes it clear that the brand intends to challenge giants like Tesla, BYD, Nio, Audi, and BMW in the luxury electric SUV segment.
