The Vestas Factory Is Located in Aquiraz, Ceará, and With the Supply of Wind Turbines, It Will Be Able to Generate Approximately 800 Jobs in the Region
Vestas, in partnership with Casa dos Ventos, has concluded An Agreement for the Supply of 291 Wind Turbines That will total 1.3 GW of wind energy generation capacity in Ceará. This partnership between the two companies is the largest ever made by the Danish factory in the world for onshore turbines, meaning turbines that will be placed on land. The turbine acquisition contract by the factory is also considered the largest in wind energy equipment procurement ever recorded in Latin America, according to the Portal In website.
With a presence in Brazil since 2008 and the factory opening in 2011 in Ceará, Vestas has a strong presence in the state, having a unit in the city of Aquiraz, which has doubled its wind energy generation capacity three years after its inauguration, in 2019.
Now, in partnership with Casa dos Ventos, the factory will serve two wind energy generation projects In the Northeast, with investments of R$ 9 billion and with the possibility of generating many job vacancies.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
Vestas Will Expand Its Equipment Supply for More Factories in the Northeastern States
In addition to Ceará, Vestas will also supply 123 wind turbines for the Babilônia Wind Complex located in Bahia, which has an installed capacity of 554 MW. For the Serra do Tigre Wind Complex located in Rio Grande do Norte, Vestas will supply 186 wind turbines with an energy generation capacity of 756 MW.
The agreed value between the two companies for supply to the factories has not yet been disclosed, however, Wind energy generation turbines cost on average 65% to 75% of the total project value for energy.
According to Lucas Araripe, executive director of Casa dos Ventos: “For this new energy generation agreement, there are 1.3 GW of machines. It is the largest contract for Vestas for onshore projects, the largest in Latin America, and one of the largest in the world (…). Adding previous projects and this last order, we reach over 3 GW in partnership with Vestas.”
Additionally, according to Eduardo Ricotta, president of Vestas in Latin America, the company will begin to mobilize its Ceará factory for the assembly of energy generation equipment, with the expectation of delivery set for 2024 and the first quarter of 2025. To meet the demand from Casa dos Ventos, approximately 800 job vacancies will be generated.
