The Ships Will Remain at the Rio Grande Shipyard for Approximately 20 Days
This weekend, the Rio Grande Shipyard, part of the Ecovix group, received three new ships in its dock for maintenance and repairs. The forecast is that the repairs will last approximately 20 days, which include docking services, treatment, painting, mechanics, and boiler making. “The Ecovix Group is taking another step to consolidate the recovery of its activities,” the company announced.
According to information released by Portos e Navios, about 150 new jobs will be created in Rio Grande (RS) as a result of the arrival of the ships. This is due to the repair services and hiring of local labor, not to mention the activity in the hotel and food sectors with the arrival of specialists from the vessels, who come from other parts of the country or abroad.
The Maintenance Services of the Ships Will Be Done in Partnership with DockBrasil
At the Rio Grande Shipyard, the maintenance services for the vessels will be carried out in partnership with DockBrasil, which has previously worked with Ecovix on other repairs at the shipyard. The ships include the Argentine “Cabo Pilar,” a tanker from Antares Naviera, and two fishing vessels: the Chinese “LQVY 279,” from Quing Dao Yang Ocean Fishery, and the Spanish “Jose Antonio Nores,” from the Nores group.

During the week of the ships’ arrival at the Rio Grande Shipyard, Ecovix also celebrated a significant advancement in its judicial recovery process. Still according to Portos e Navios, the company settled credits with 130 Class IV companies, which consist of micro and small enterprises. Additionally, credits with real guarantees (Class II) have been paid, and obligations with other classes are up to date.
Significant Steps Taken by Ecovix in the Last Five Years
The company’s judicial recovery plan, approved on January 23, received an addendum approved by the 2nd Civil Court of Rio Grande on March 8. “These are important milestones for the implementation of our business plan, within our commitment to the development of the Southern region. We have been carrying out naval repair activities, port services, and we are confident in the gradual resumption of shipbuilding,” emphasizes Ecovix’s general director, Robson Passos.
Laurence Medeiros, from Medeiros Judicial Administration, emphasizes the importance and difficulties of the process. “These are significant steps being taken over the last five years, since the approval of the judicial recovery plan. This brings legal security for the company, creditors, and all the work of resuming naval activities,” concludes the lawyer.
