Municipality with Only 34,613 Residents Draws Attention by Leading National Cashew Production, Reaching 13.6 Thousand Tons and Surprising Experts by Transforming Its Productive Structure into an Absolute Highlight in the Brazilian Agricultural Scene
By far the largest producer of cashew nuts in Brazil, Ceará concentrates eight of the ten municipalities that harvest the seed the most in the country. Bela Cruz, on the northern coast of Ceará, tops the ranking and increases its advantage as it recorded a 75% growth in production.
The city of 34,613 inhabitants produced 13.6 thousand tons of cashew nuts in 2024, valued at R$ 61.5 million. The data is from the Municipal Agricultural Production survey, PAM, conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics and released last week.
Municipalities Completing the Podium
Beberibe, on the eastern coastline, and Alto Santo, in the Jaguaribe Valley, complete the podium of the largest seed producers in the country. Both municipalities reinforce Ceará’s strength in cultivation as they both appear right behind Bela Cruz in the national ranking.
