Rosatom Delegation Aims to Explore Opportunities in Brazil’s Nuclear Sector
An important delegation from Rosatom Energy Projects, the Russian nuclear conglomerate based in Moscow, made a strategic visit to the national state-owned company Nuclep (Nuclebrás Equipamentos Pesados S.A), located in Brazil, last Wednesday (10). The meeting, part of a series of initiatives to strengthen bilateral relations in the field of nuclear energy, aims to explore collaboration opportunities in the development and production of essential equipment for the Brazilian nuclear sector. It is worth noting that France is also in negotiations with us for projects related to the Álvaro Alberto submarine.
During the visit, representatives from Rosatom met with Nuclep executives to discuss potential partnerships that could lead to a significant expansion of the nuclear sector in Brazil. Discussions focused on how Nuclep’s industrial capabilities can be leveraged to support Russia‘s nuclear energy projects and how Russian expertise could benefit operations and nuclear safety in Brazil.

Nuclep, known for its competence in manufacturing high-complexity components for the nuclear industry, is well-positioned to collaborate with Rosatom. This partnership would not only reinforce Brazilian nuclear infrastructure but also facilitate technology transfer and expertise, strengthening the national industry and contributing to the country’s energy autonomy. We even received a massive shipment of 21 tons of Russian uranium to strengthen Angra 1 this February.

The focus of the proposed partnership between Rosatom and Nuclep would include the development of new nuclear technologies, the construction of more efficient and safer nuclear reactors, and mutual support in research and development in the field of nuclear energy. The collaboration is seen as a crucial step for Brazil in diversifying its energy sources and consolidating a sustainable and independent energy future.
The role of Rosatom in the global nuclear energy landscape is remarkable, as it is responsible for the construction of more than a third of the nuclear reactors under development worldwide. Rosatom‘s expertise in advanced nuclear technology is unquestionable and represents a significant advantage for Brazil, which seeks to expand and modernize its nuclear sector.

In addition to the impact on energy generation, the collaboration between Nuclep and Rosatom has the potential to generate significant economic benefits, including job creation, boosting the local economy, and developing a robust supply chain in the nuclear sector. This strategic partnership could also position Brazil as a regional leader in nuclear technology and as a model for other developing countries.
In conclusion, the visit of the Rosatom delegation to Nuclep is a promising sign of future collaborations that could transform the Brazilian nuclear sector. Discussions between the two entities are still in the early stages, but the potential for a solid and fruitful partnership is evident, promising to strengthen Brazil’s position in the global nuclear landscape and contribute to a safer and more sustainable future.
