4,40% decrease in electricity tariffs from Monday
Starting next Monday, the 8th, consumers in Mato Grosso will experience an average reduction of 4,40% in their electricity bills. This reduction is the result of the most recent approval of the annual tariff adjustment by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), which reflects the ongoing commitment to transparency and consumer well-being.
Tiago Vianna, president of the Union of Construction, Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Energy and Gas in the State of Mato Grosso (Sindenergia MT), highlighted that this adjustment is a direct reflection of improvements in efficiency and reduction in operating costs at the concessionaire. “It is a matter of ethics and benefit for end consumers that the savings obtained are passed on to them”, stated Vianna.
Energy tariff components
The average adjustment of -4,40% that comes into force on April 8 directly impacts the composition of energy tariffs in the state, both with and without taxes. Costs are distributed between energy, distribution, transmission and sectoral charges, with specific variations depending on the inclusion of taxes such as ICMS.

Tariff review and tariff adjustment explained
A Periodic Tariff Review (RTP) and the Annual Tariff Adjustment (RTA) are fundamental tariff processes in determining electricity rates, provided for in concession contracts. The RTA is a more simplified process and occurs in years when there is no RTP, adjusting the tariff for inflation minus the “X Factor”, which seeks to encourage the efficiency of distributors.
RTP is a more comprehensive procedure that redefines efficient distribution costs, quality targets and energy losses, in addition to adjusting financial components that directly influence final tariffs for consumers.
These processes ensure that energy tariffs remain fair and proportional to costs and investments made, while encouraging continuous improvements in service and operational efficiency. Thus, Aneel and the agents involved reinforce their commitment to maintaining affordable and quality energy for all consumers in Mato Grosso.
