First Contest in Over a Decade Promises to Strengthen Consumer Protection in Rio de Janeiro; Announcement Expected by the End of 2025.
After 14 years without opening effective positions, Procon-RJ has finally announced the holding of a new public contest. Governor Cláudio Castro confirmed this Monday (18) the opening of 30 immediate vacancies and up to 100 positions in the reserve list. The announcement is expected to be published by December 2025.
The decision meets a historical demand. Created in 1987 and transformed into an autarchy in 2010, Procon-RJ has only held one contest to date, in 2012. Since then, the functional deficit has grown and now exceeds 55% of the staff, according to official data.

The announced positions cover different professional profiles. Opportunities are expected for:

Historical Deficit Pressures for a New Contest
The announcement did not occur by chance. In 2012, Fundação Getúlio Vargas had already identified the need for 181 effective positions for Procon-RJ. However, only part of this demand was met.
With the increasing deficit, the State Public Ministry formally recommended the opening of a new contest, which ultimately propelled the state government’s decision.
Expectations for 2025
Industry experts believe that the reinforcement of the staff may have direct impacts on consumers in Rio, increasing oversight against abusive practices by companies and strengthening conflict mediation.
The publication of the announcement by the end of 2025 will be the next step. Until then, expectations rise among candidates and professionals in the covered areas, who see this opportunity as a rare chance to enter one of the most strategic agencies for balancing consumer relations in Rio de Janeiro.
