BYD, GWM, Jac Motors and Other Companies Are the Automakers That Will Make 2024 a Year of Many New Developments in the Car Industry
The Brazilian automotive market is on the verge of experiencing a revolution with the arrival of 15 new models of Chinese cars in 2024. Among them are electric vehicles, pickup trucks, SUVs, and even cars from brands that will be making their debut in the country, according to the website Auto Esporte.
BYD: Accessible Electrification and New SUVs
BYD, known for its electric cars, is preparing to launch the Dolphin Mini, which promises to be the most affordable electric car in Brazil, with an estimated price of around R$ 130 thousand. In addition, the Song Pro, a more affordable SUV, is also planned for the brand in the second half of 2024, featuring a 1.5 naturally aspirated engine with 195 hp.
GWM: National Production and Off-Road SUVs
GWM plans to start production at its factory in Iracemápolis (SP) and bring four car models to Brazil in 2024. The Poer pickup may be produced locally, while the Haval H4, a smaller SUV, could be launched if national production is feasible. The brand also plans to launch the Tank 700, an off-road SUV, and the Wey Coffee 01, a luxury plug-in hybrid SUV.

Jac Motors: Return of Combustion Cars and New Electric Vehicles
After a discreet year, Jac Motors is ready to make a strong comeback in 2024. The brand will launch the Hunter T9 pickup, featuring a 2.0 turbo diesel engine with 170 hp, followed by a more powerful electric version. Additionally, the QX PHEV SUV, with a plug-in hybrid engine, and the electric Yiwei 3 are on the company’s plans for 2024.
Jaecoo and Omoda: New Brands in the Brazilian Market
Two new Chinese brands, Jaecoo and Omoda, will enter Brazil in 2024. Jaecoo will bring the J7 and J9 models, large SUVs with a premium proposition, while Omoda will launch the C5, an SUV with a 1.5 turbo engine and mild hybrid system, along with the E5, the electric version of the C5.
Volvo: Elegance and Sustainability
Volvo, known for its quality and safety, will launch the EX30 and EX90 cars in 2024, both electric and produced in China. The EX30 will be a compact SUV competing with combustion models, while the EX90 will be a luxury SUV, featuring two electric motors that deliver an impressive power of 517 hp and a range of 600 km.
