Prior to this disclosure, Equinor had already announced the contracting of Modec for the construction of the Bacalhau FPSO.

The exact figure referring to the value of the contract has not yet been disclosed. However, in a statement from the Subsea 7 company, the company says that it is a large contract, which means values in excess of US$ 750 million. The FEED (Front End Engineering Design) and the pre-investment are starting, which represents the phase of technical studies to estimate the approximate value of the project.

According to the project, SIA (Subsea 7 and Onesubsea) will supply approximately 130 km of rigid risers and flowlines, in addition to 35 km of umbilicals. Installations are planned for 2022 and 2023.

According to Vice President of Subsea 7 Brazil, Marcelo Xavier, “This contract builds on our successful track record of developing solutions for deepwater projects in Brazil and demonstrates our ability to maximize asset value through early engagement and an integrated approach”.

The estimate is that Equinor will make the final decision on the investment that will be used in the contracting of the Cod SURF package, at the end of this year. The project (management and engineering) will be carried out in Rio de Janeiro.
