Before this announcement, Equinor had already announced the hiring of Modec for the construction of the Bacalhau FPSO.

The exact figure regarding the contract value has not yet been disclosed. However, in a statement from Subsea 7, the company mentions that it is a large contract, which means amounts exceeding US$ 750 million. The FEED (Front End Engineering Design) and pre-investment are starting, which represents the phase of technical studies to estimate the approximate project value.

According to the project, the SIA (Subsea 7 and Onesubsea) will provide approximately 130 km of rigid risers and flowlines, in addition to 35 km of umbilicals. Installations are scheduled for 2022 and 2023.

According to Marcelo Xavier, the vice president of Subsea 7 in Brazil, “This contract is based on our successful history of solutions developed for deep-water projects in Brazil and demonstrates our ability to maximize asset value through early engagement and an integrated approach.”

The expectation is that Equinor will make the final investment decision to be used in the contracting of the Bacalhau SURF package by the end of this year. The project (management and engineering) will be carried out in Rio de Janeiro.
