Projects Were Executed by FiberX Renewables in the Cities of Sarandi, Reserva do Iguaçu, and Santo Antônio da Platina, Paraná

Copel – Companhia Paranaense de Energia invested in a new business model, in which customers can purchase credits of energy generated by a photovoltaic solar plant (UFV). Through the Copel Solar program, the company designed three photovoltaic generation complexes that will allow customers to sign contracts to use the credits, which can generate savings of up to 15% on energy costs. The three projects were executed by FiberX Renewables and began operations between May 31 and July 3, 2024.

The Santo Antônio da Platina Plant, in the Norte Pioneiro region, commenced operations on July 3, the Segredo Plant, located in the municipality of Reserva do Iguaçu (near the Gov. Ney Braga Hydroelectric Plant), was inaugurated on June 23, and the Sarandi Plant, in the municipality of the same name, started operations on May 31, all in 2024. Together, the plants total about 19.8 MWp (megawatt-peak) of installed capacity.

“The three plants were designed with tracker technology, which means they follow the movement of the sun. This way, it is possible to increase energy generation, enhancing efficiency”, explains Paulo Andrade, vice president of FiberX Renewables. “We are very pleased with the delivery of these plants because it is not just about saving on the electricity bill, it’s a project that benefits the environment by reducing carbon emissions with 100% renewable energy generation,” he adds.

The plants operate under a shared distributed generation regime, meaning that consumer units (either individuals or legal entities) within the concession area benefit from the generated energy. Copel offers this service to commercial customers in group B (low voltage) with a monthly bill exceeding R$ 400.00 and who do not yet use the energy compensation system. According to Copel’s announcement, of the approximately 1,000 spots available in the program, 90% had already been filled in the first week of July.
