Unprecedented Training Connects Theory and Practice, Brings Global References, and Highlights the Real Application of ESG in Brazilian Sports
First, Fatec de Esportes structured an unprecedented course on sustainability applied to sports. The initiative was launched in December 2024 for students from Fatec and Etec de Esportes de São Paulo.
Additionally, the course “Introduction to Sustainability in Sports” includes over 45 hours of content. The project began development in 2023, following discussions between professors and a sports marketing professional.
Since then, the proposal has consolidated the understanding that sports are a strategic space for ESG practices, governance, and social impact. At the same time, it identified the lack of structured introductory training in Brazil and Latin America.

Structured Training for Young Sports Professionals
Initially, the challenge was to transform a broad topic into an accessible pedagogical experience. Therefore, a learning path was designed to cater to students at different career stages.
While some students are already functioning in the sports sector, others are experiencing their first academic engagement. Thus, the content was organized in an accessible manner, but without excessive simplifications.
Moreover, storyboards, scripts, and interactive templates were developed. Consequently, videos, quizzes, forums, and infographics were incorporated into the digital platform.
Even though technology is present, it was not positioned as the protagonist. On the contrary, each resource was utilized only when it enhanced understanding and practical application.
Curation Connects Global Sports to Local Reality
Subsequently, the curation became a central stage of the project. Therefore, testimonials and practical cases were selected to bridge theory and market.
Among the participants, highlighted are Paralympic medalist Yohansson Nascimento and young leader of the International Olympic Committee, Laher Gala. Additionally, organizations such as WSL, YouTube, Hang Loose, and Invest Favela were mentioned.
In this way, students could understand how sustainability manifests in themes such as:
- Sports Integrity
- Arena Infrastructure and Management
- Corporate Governance
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Social Impact and Legacy
Thus, the course demonstrates that sustainability in sports involves strategic and operational decisions.
Practical Experience Reinforces Learning
In addition to the theoretical content, the course concluded with a technical visit to Allianz Parque. During the activity, students observed sustainable initiatives implemented in the arena.
Subsequently, students participated in an experience at a major sporting event. In this manner, they perceived how sustainable practices are integrated into the sector’s routine.
Consequently, it became evident that sustainability in sports is not an abstract concept. On the contrary, it is a practical application driven by concrete decisions.
Training Focused on Ethics, Governance, and Social Impact
Finally, the construction of the learning path demonstrated that sustainability goes beyond environmental actions. It involves ethics, governance, inclusion, and social legacy.
According to administrator Luiz Alexandre Castanha, co-author of the book “Olhares para os Sistemas” and CEO of NextGen Learning, complex themes gain strength when connected to the students’ daily lives.
Thus, the creation of the course marks a significant step in expanding educational initiatives that unite sports, purpose, and social impact. Additionally, the project was developed with methodical rigor and a pedagogical focus.
Therefore, the experience reinforces the importance of transparent editorial and academic processes. At the same time, it demonstrates alignment with responsible practices and compliance with educational and informational guidelines.
