Free courses teach maintenance, safety, and conservation concepts for licensed drivers and motorcyclists
The State Department of Transit opened registrations for free Basic Car and Motorcycle Mechanics courses, offering a practical opportunity for drivers in Greater Vitória. In total, according to Detran, there are 120 in-person spots available for drivers and motorcyclists who wish to learn simple vehicle care. The classes will be held at Detranzinho, located in Boa Vista II, in Serra, and registrations are open from June 1st to 5th. The proposal is to teach maintenance concepts, identification of common problems, and measures that contribute to traffic safety and the conservation of cars and motorcycles.
Free courses require a valid CNH
Participation depends on the category of the National Driver’s License corresponding to the chosen course. For Basic Motorcycle Mechanics, the interested party must have a CNH in category A. For Basic Car Mechanics, the candidate must have a license in category B. The driver also cannot be serving a suspension of the right to drive, revocation of the CNH, penalty resulting from a traffic crime, or judicial impediment to exercising their rights. Classified candidates will receive confirmation by email, while the list of selected candidates will be published on the official Detran website.
Classes combine theory and practice at Detranzinho
During the Basic Mechanics Course, participants will learn simple notions about vehicle operation and guidance for dealing with common maintenance situations. Among the planned content are reading the main indicators on the instrument panel, checking the engine, brakes, and fluids, identifying the need for alignment and balancing, as well as tips for economical driving and daily care. The classes will be divided into theoretical and practical parts. The courses are organized and coordinated by the Detran Public Traffic School, with support from partner companies responsible for in-person activities.
