Governor Ibaneis Rocha Highlights Investment of R$ 43 Million in the Revitalization of Pistão Sul, Improving Mobility on the Avenue in Taguatinga.
Taguatinga, one of the most populous cities in the Federal District, is making progress with an investment in urban mobility. Following inaugurations such as the King Pelé Tunnel and the Tunnel Boulevard, Governor Ibaneis Rocha returned to the city to present the new Pistão Sul, which received an investment of R$ 43 million. This project on the avenue aims to improve the road infrastructure in the region, benefiting not only the residents of Taguatinga but also those commuting from neighboring cities like Riacho Fundo and Ceilândia.
The Importance of Investment in Pistão Sul
Pistão Sul is a crucial route for traffic in the region, serving as a link between different localities in the Federal District.
The governor emphasized that the investment in the recovery of the avenue is essential to facilitate the movement of drivers using the road to access important routes, such as Estrutural and EPTG.

Shotcrete replaces manual plastering, can double or even triple productivity on site, and delivers more uniform walls; this industrialized technique has been gaining ground precisely where there is a lack of skilled labor.
“It is a very important connecting road, not just for the people of Taguatinga, but for everyone who frequents this area,” he stated.
The improvements on the avenue include a complete asphalt replacement covering 10.8 km in length, and the construction of a drainage network to prevent flooding.
Additionally, vertical and horizontal signage were installed, as well as a bike lane, making the road safer and more accessible.
The expectation is that around 60,000 drivers will benefit daily from these interventions.
Commitment to the Community
The governor also made a point to mention the importance of the project on the avenue for local merchants.
“The reconstruction of Pistão Sul had been a long-standing demand. We invested over R$ 40 million to solve asphalt and drainage issues, ensuring that entrepreneurs can continue to invest in the region,” he explained.
The works were carried out by companies contracted by the Federal District Department of Highways (DER-DF), generating about 130 direct and indirect jobs during its execution.
Fauzi Nacfur, president of DER-DF, stated that the revitalization of Pistão Sul is part of a larger effort by the GDF to restore the main roads of the capital.
“The pavement had been completely destroyed for over 10 years, and we needed to carry out a total reconstruction to deliver a road with the quality it deserves,” he said.
This renewal is essential to meet a population that increasingly relies on mobility alternatives.
Sustainable Mobility Programs
In addition to the inauguration of Pistão Sul, the governor announced the Vai de Bike program, which aims to expand cycling mobility throughout the DF.
With an investment of R$ 123 million, the program plans to create 325 km of new bike lanes and maintain the existing 700 km by 2026. “We want the DF to reach the mark of one thousand kilometers of bike lanes,” Ibaneis stated.
The investment initiative on the avenue also includes the implementation of an electric bike-sharing system, with 300 units available at strategic points.
The goal is to promote the use of sustainable transportation, offering a viable alternative to car use and public transport.
Impact of Investment on the Local Community
Carlos Alberto de Oliveira, a merchant and resident of Taguatinga, expressed his satisfaction with the improvements on Pistão Sul.
“The project was a long-standing necessity. As a merchant and resident, I can only thank the government for addressing this demand,” he said.
The revitalization of the avenue is seen as an important step towards improving the city’s infrastructure and strengthening the local economy.
With the new Pistão Sul, the expectation is that Taguatinga will become an example of urban mobility in the DF, benefiting not only drivers but also cyclists and pedestrians.
Investment in infrastructure is essential to ensure a better quality of life for all citizens.
The investment in the avenue in Taguatinga reflects a government commitment to modernization and sustainability, aiming for a more promising future for the region.
As the works and programs progress, the expectation is that more improvements will be implemented, benefiting the local population and strengthening the economy.
