Child became the center of a family doubt after test indicated kinship with grandparents of deceased cowboy and another test indicated paternity of mother’s husband
Since 2021, the death of cowboy Amadeu Campos, 22, left a deep mark on the lives of his parents, Flávio and Rosa. The young man died after being trampled by a bull during a rodeo competition in the United States, after being taken to the hospital and not surviving his injuries.
Before the accident, Amadeu had told his parents that a woman in Brazil might be pregnant by him. The information was kept by the family until, years later, Flávio and Rosa decided to seek answers about the possible existence of a grandchild.
First DNA test indicated kinship with the cowboy’s family
The search began when Amadeu’s parents approached the child’s mother, who was married to another man named João. Despite the delicate situation, they decided to request a DNA test to confirm if there was a biological connection with the boy.

About 30 days later, the result indicated kinship between Flávio, Rosa, and the child, now 4 years old. For the couple, the news brought emotion, hope, and a new connection with the son who died.
From this result, the boy began to visit the family’s ranch on weekends. According to Rosa, the child showed an interest in cattle, rodeo, and the rural lifestyle, traits that reminded them of Amadeu.
Second test also came back positive and increased the doubt
The story took a new turn when João, the child’s mother’s husband, requested a retest. The new paternity test, conducted by another clinic, also came back positive.
This raised the central question of the case: how could a child have two positive DNA tests for different fathers?
The most striking point was that the samples from both tests were reportedly sent to the same laboratory. Additionally, the same doctor allegedly signed both reports.
Family wants a new test with judicial oversight
In light of the two positive results, Flávio and Rosa stated that they intend to take legal action. The intention is to request a new DNA test, now with judicial oversight, to clarify which report is correct.
Experts interviewed in the report explained that the possibility of error in paternity tests is considered very low. However, human errors can occur during the collection, handling of samples, or the release of the result.

Case reignites doubt about genetics and paternity
The medical explanation presented in the report states that there is no known record of a single child with genetic material from two biological fathers.
What can happen, in rare cases, is a woman releasing more than one egg in the same cycle and producing twins from different fathers. However, this hypothesis involves two children, not just one.
Therefore, the case depends on a new test to be clarified.
Boy became a symbol of affection amid family dispute
While the doubt remains, the child remains at the center of a story marked by longing, bond, and emotion. For Amadeu’s grandparents, the boy represents a possible continuation of the son lost in the rodeo.
At the same time, João also claims to recognize the child as his son. Thus, the dispute does not involve rejection, but the desire to understand the truth.
Now, the family awaits a new judicial phase. The goal is simple: to discover which test is correct and resolve a doubt that has transformed the lives of everyone involved.
