Last year, the best hydroelectric plant was also from the EDP group. UHE Lajeado was the chosen one at that time.
ANEEL evaluated 148 power generation plants in two distinct phases, between December 2019 and April 2020. UHE Peixe Angical, located in Tocantins, was rated 99.40 in the overall ranking, achieving the highest score in five of the six topics listed: environment, safety, operation management, maintenance management, and operation and maintenance.
The runner-up, UHE Lajeado, also situated in Tocantins, received the highest score in four of them.
Together, the evaluated hydroelectric plants are responsible for the production of 93,327.35 MW, approximately 54% of the national generation capacity.
Very proud of the award achieved, Luiz Otávio Henriques, Vice President of Generation, Transmission, and Marketing at EDP, stated that “It is with great satisfaction that we receive ANEEL’s recognition. Having the two best hydroelectric plants in the country in our portfolio, along with a third among the top ten, shows us that all the effort in pursuing the best practices of sustainability and operational safety has been rewarded.”
