The Desmo450 MX was first showcased earlier this year in Italy, and its success on the tracks sparked interest in creating an adapted version for urban use. The new bike, expected to hit the market in June 2025, promises to combine the robustness and performance of competition bikes with the versatility needed to tackle daily life in cities.
Off-Road Bike Adapted for the City
One of the major advantages of this new bike will be its ability to transition between pavement and off-road easily. Ducati plans to equip the model with a single-cylinder engine known as the Superquadro Mono, which already powers the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono.
This engine is capable of generating 64 kgfm of torque at 8000 rpm and a power of 77.5 hp at 9750 rpm, with an option to reach 85 hp with the Termignoni racing exhaust.
Additionally, the bike will feature a Showa fork, Brembo brakes, Excel rims, and an Akrapovic exhaust, components that ensure high-level performance both on and off the streets.
The urban version of the Desmo450 MX will also come equipped with headlights, turn signals, a license plate holder, and adjustments to the suspension and transmission, ensuring that the bike complies with traffic regulations and offers a safe and enjoyable riding experience.
Competition and Market Expansion
Ducati is not alone in its quest to establish itself in the off-road motorcycle market. Japanese brands such as Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki, as well as the Austrian KTM, already have a strong presence in this segment. Furthermore, other European brands like Triumph are also expanding their offerings to include motocross and enduro bikes.
Triumph, for instance, entered the off-road motorcycle market in 2021 and recently launched the TF 250X, a bike designed to tackle challenging terrains and deliver an exciting ride. With Ducati’s entry into this segment, the competition promises to heat up, benefiting consumers with a greater variety of options and cutting-edge technologies.
The introduction of an off-road bike from Ducati for urban use is exciting news for two-wheeled enthusiasts. The possibility of riding a robust and versatile machine capable of tackling both city streets and rougher terrains is a dream that is about to come true.
Ducati, with its tradition of innovation and performance, is about to open a new chapter in the history of off-road motorcycles, offering a product that combines the best of both worlds.
With the launch planned for 2025, the anticipation surrounding this new bike is high, and riders can hardly wait to see how Ducati will perform in this new challenge. The entry of the Italian brand into the urban off-road segment is another step in its journey to solidify itself as a reference in innovation and quality in the world of motorcycles.
