Minister Wang Yi Seeks Alliance with United Kingdom and European Union Amid Unilateral Pressures from Washington
China has intensified its diplomatic efforts in defense of free trade this Tuesday (9), calling for the United Kingdom and the European Union to take a united stance against the rising tariffs imposed by the United States. This movement comes amid the threat of new trade barriers, particularly in the electric vehicles and technology sectors, according to Info Money.
Dialogues with London and Vienna Reinforce Chinese Appeal
In phone conversations with European officials, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the need to preserve the multilateral trading system.
With British Secretary David Lammy, Wang stated that China and the United Kingdom share the responsibility to “resist rampant unilateral bullying.”

In addition to bilateral contacts, Wang Yi indicated that China is willing to expand dialogue with the European Union, with the aim of strengthening economic and institutional cooperation between the parties.
“China is open to deepening exchanges with Europe and jointly preserving an open and resilient global economy,” stated the chancellor.
