Seabed Geosolutions, a Joint Venture Between Fugro and CGG, Just Completed a 3D Survey in Deep Waters in the Santos Basin off the Coast of Brazil in Cooperation With Petrobras
With core support from Petrobras, the survey involving seismic data began in late 2018 and covered the Búzios field, about 2000 m deep. Fugro said on Wednesday that, using the Manta seafloor node system and Seabed Geosolutions’ ROV deployment systems, the project operated in a congested deep-water area and provided significant efficiency gains in node deployment.

This is the fourth OBN survey completed by Seabed Geosolutions in Brazil. “In close cooperation with Petrobras, we have completed the largest OBN survey in the industry, covering more than 1,600 km2, in this giant pre-salt field in the Santos Basin, using our new Manta OBN technology,” said Stephan Midenet, CEO of Seabed Geosolutions.
Petrobras commented: “As this acquisition is the largest deep-water node survey ever conducted, with a complex and evolving operational area featuring many production structures and FPSOs, Seabed Geosolutions’ effort and experience in successfully completing this work are unparalleled.”

“Furthermore, preliminary processing results indicate that the quality of the acquired data is excellent and will ultimately provide structural insights to better characterize the Búzios field.”
It is worth noting that Axxis Geo Solutions also claimed to have completed the largest multi-client OBN survey in the world last October. AGS stated that the Utsira multi-client OBN survey – in the North Sea off the coast of Norway – covered an area of approximately 1,600 square kilometers.
Also noteworthy is that Seabed Geosolutions, in October 2019, secured a contract to provide a 3D OBN survey in the Santos Basin, at the far end of Brazil’s coastline.
