Reference in the national solar energy market, the company NeoSolar starts 2023 with many reasons to celebrate: the year 2022 ended with a growth of 50% compared to 2021, revenue possible thanks to the increase in sales across all business units and a 40% expansion in the workforce.
The results were achieved even in a challenging year for the sector, which faced difficulties such as lockdown periods in China, the war in Ukraine, truck drivers’ strikes and port strikes, the global container crisis, and other logistical hurdles. On the other hand, despite these factors, NeoSolar managed to capitalize on some positive trends in the market, such as greater demand for Distributed Generation (GD) systems after the approval of the Legal Framework and the growing interest of the Brazilian population in solar energy.
“The Energy Transition is already a reality in Brazil, bringing new ways to generate and consume energy. Today we see the population increasingly aware of this, knowing that solar energy is not only a cleaner way to generate energy but also very advantageous for reducing costs on electricity bills or even being able to provide electricity practically to previously isolated regions,” comments Raphael Pintão, co-founder of NeoSolar.

Every time a river flows into the sea, an amount of energy equivalent to a 120-meter waterfall is silently wasted, but Japan has just inaugurated the world’s first power plant that captures this waste and transforms it into electricity 24 hours a day without sun, wind, or fuel.

Increase in Portfolio and Special Projects
Established for twelve years as one of the main players in the Brazilian solar energy market, NeoSolar expanded its portfolio in 2022 to meet the various demands of Brazilian consumers, including investments in technologies such as lithium batteries, hybrid inverters, microinverters, and solar pumps – sought especially by the agricultural sector as a solution for drought periods.
“In 2022, NeoSolar managed to expand the portfolio in different operating segments, in addition to inaugurating a new distribution center in Extrema (MG), which increased our capacity to offer the best purchasing conditions across the country. Thus, we ended 2022 reinforcing our position as market leaders in Off Grid, and we are increasingly becoming a reference in the Distributed Generation, Electric Vehicle Charging, and Energy Storage markets,” he summarizes.
In addition to distributing products for different types of consumers, NeoSolar’s revenue was also boosted by Special Projects in 2022, participating in programs like “Light for All” and “More Light for the Amazon.” Pedro Pintão, another co-founder of the company, emphasizes that participation in these initiatives was essential not only for business but also from a socio-environmental standpoint.
“We integrated important projects in partnership with different energy concessionaires, created with the aim of bringing electricity to the population in remote places, especially in the Northern region of the country. It should be noted that NeoSolar’s participation in these programs occurs not only because of its leadership in the Off Grid market but also due to the customized solutions we develop and, mainly, because of our technical expertise and experience in these types of projects,” he proudly states.
Growth Trend of Solar Energy Company for 2023
One of the factors that contributed to NeoSolar’s success in 2022, the arrival of new products in the Brazilian market, especially inverters, lithium batteries, solar pumps, and electric vehicle chargers, will continue to be the company’s focus.
“The goal is always to serve our customers in the best possible way in each business unit, each with its demands and particularities. Working in different markets requires the ability to look differently at each of them and seek the best solutions and trends. This is in our DNA, to be ahead and develop new markets.” highlights Raphael.
Pedro points out that the expectation for 2023 is to maintain the growth momentum of 2022 – a year in which the company grew 50% considering all business units – but he makes a note about the beginning of the year, which is likely to be slower due to the economic slowdown in the country. “What excites us is the fact that our sector always grows much faster than the economy as a whole.”
Investments in the Electric Vehicle Sector
NeoCharge, the NeoSolar business unit specialized in charging solutions for electric vehicles, underwent significant transformations in 2022, with the arrival of new CEO, Diogo Seixas, and CCO, Rodrigo Carrau. NeoCharge recorded a 100% increase in sales, celebrated new contracts with automakers, and participated in reference events for the electric mobility sector, such as the Latin American Electric Vehicle (Vela), held in September in São Paulo.
