Bluetti has developed an innovative solar energy generator. The product is the first on the market to use sodium ion batteries, with the possibility of retiring lithium ion batteries

Bluetti, the North American manufacturer, world leader in solar energy installations, announced that it has become the first company in the world to create and launch a generator that relies on batteries made of sodium ion. The company's new launch aims to end the predominance of lithium-ion dominance in the consumer market and rely less on the lithium market, which lately faces some large-scale demand stalemates.

The novelty makes up the new “kit” that was presented by Bluetti, which has the NA300 solar-powered generator and the B480 batteries, with both being made with sodium ion replacing lithium.

It is evident that, as it is a recent technology, the company's new batteries still have some capacity limitations. The NA300 solar-powered generator has a humble capacity of 3.000 Wh, which is much smaller than the 5.100 Wh of the EP500 Pro model, also from Bluetti. However, this technology is still in its early stages and from now on the American company will strive to evolve it.

We currently have available on the market a world's fastest graphene portable charger, which promises to recharge the cell phone in 7 minutes, withstands more than 2,5 charge cycles, or about seven years of daily use.

Bluetti generator can support up to two battery modules

Generator capacity should not become a major issue for those purchasing it, as the solar-powered generator is capable of supporting up to two 480 Wh B4.800 Sodium Ion battery modules, bringing the generator's total capacity to 12.600 Wh.

With this launch, the company seeks not only to innovate in the battery and generator sector, but also to be less dependent on the current lithium market, which has been suffering several problems due to high demand. Switching from lithium to sodium ion batteries can generate several advantages for the company, mainly because it is up to 1000 times more abundant in the Earth's crust.

Bluetti announced that it will provide more information about the new generator and sodium ion batteries during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will take place from January 5th to 8th next year.

Know the company

After 10 years of research and work in the energy storage industry, in 2019, Wondar Law and Jame Ray met in California and set out with a vision to create a minimalist portable power plant that would become a part of many Americans' lives.

Bluetti's first products, the EB150 and EB240, were launched on Amazon in July 2019 and have been well received by consumers ever since. A year later, the company released its flagship model, the AC200 as a crowdfunding project and raised nearly $7 million in just two months. At the same time, after moving from Los Angeles to Denver, the company established itself in Vegas, Nevada, where it is currently headquartered.
