According to Silvimar Fernandes Reis, vice-president of the Brazilian Association of Technology for Construction and Mining (Sobratema), coordinator of the entity's Sustainability Committee and debater at Trends in the Construction Market, currently, the ESG theme is a matter of survival, or is essential for the perpetuity of a company.
Builders, miners, quarries, equipment manufacturers and more companies will have to adapt and become aware of the importance of ESG indicators to stay in the market
This means that she will make this transformation for good, in a planned way, or in a forced way, which is not positive and more expensive. “This requirement is driven by climate change and issues of ethics and integrity. Thus, for companies to maintain their business, they need to be aware of the importance of ESG indicators. Otherwise, if they do not adapt to this new reality, it will be difficult for them to remain in the market”, he evaluated.
In addition to the debate on ESG, which will be brought by Renata Faber, Head of ESG at Exame magazine and ESG analyst at BTG Pactual, the program will include the release of the new edition of the Sobratema Study of the Brazilian Construction Equipment Market, to be delivered by consultant Mário Miranda; and will feature lectures by consultant Yoshio Kawakami on the machinery and equipment market with a focus on ESG, and by Sergio Etchegoyen, president of the Brazilian Institute for Self-Regulation in the Infrastructure Sector (IBRIC), and by Sergio Leão, Director of Sustainability at IBRIC, on sustainability and integrity in infrastructure. The debate will also have the participation of Eurimilson Daniel, vice-president of Sobratema.
Debate will promote the main themes for the sustainable development of construction
In virtual format, the traditional meeting will be held on November 25th, starting at 15:00 pm, with the debate of the main themes for the sustainable development of construction, in particular issues related to environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG), which are considered strategic to attract investments and meet global demands for the new zero-carbon energy matrix.
