Companies Request Concession to Build Railways in 12 Sections of Mato Grosso

Six Companies Submitted Requests to the Ministry of Infrastructure to Build Railways in Mato Grosso; Three of the Requests Are in the Final Analysis Phase

The Ministry of Infrastructure (MInfra) received requests from 6 companies to authorize the construction of railways in 12 sections of the state of Mato Grosso, through the Pró-Trilhos program; the survey was conducted by MidiaNews this week. Of these requests, three are already in the final analysis phase, meaning they are at the stage of signing the adhesion contract and authorizing the request, and the investments proposed by the companies for the railways are in the billions.

The company that requested the most authorizations for railway construction in Mato Grosso was Rumo S.A., a company that already operates the railway corridor that connects Rondonópolis (MT) to the Port of Santos (SP) through federal concessions (Malha Norte and Malha Paulista), and plans to build the state railway that will connect Rondonópolis to Cuiabá and Lucas do Rio Verde.

The company submitted a request to MInfra for the construction of six railways in Mato Grosso, in these sections: Água Boa to Lucas do Rio Verde; Ribeirão Cascalheira to Figueirópolis (TO); Bom Jesus do Araguaia to Água Boa; Primavera do Leste to Ribeirão Cascalheira; Santa Rita do Trivelato to Sinop; Nova Mutum to Campo Novo do Parecis.

With all these projects, the investment made by Rumo is estimated at over R$ 20.4 billion. The requests for the sections from Água Boa to Lucas and from Bom Jesus do Araguaia to Água Boa are already in the contract signing phase.

Other Companies That Hope to Build Railways in Mato Grosso

The second company that made the most requests for railway construction in Mato Grosso was Zion Real Estate, which is seeking authorization to build railways connecting Lucas do Rio Verde to Sinop; and Sinop to Moraes Almeida (PA). The company’s estimated investment for the two projects is that the total costs will sum R$ 8.79 billion.

The first company to request authorization to build railways on the section connecting Água Boa to Lucas do Rio Verde was VLI Multimodal S.A. The project for the state of Mato Grosso is estimated at R$ 5.08 billion, and the request is also already in the final authorization phase.

For the section between Lucas do Rio Verde and Sinop, Garin Infraestrutura, Assessoria e Participações Ltda. requested authorization to build a railway valued at R$ 1.47 billion.

The company Rail-In Engenharia Eirelli requested authorization to build and operate the railways on the section that connects Água Boa to Lucas do Rio Verde, with an estimated investment of R$ 6.35 billion.

Finally, the last section requested to MInfra was submitted by the company Euca Energy Administração e Participações S.A., which is trying to make viable a stretch of 30 km of railways in the municipality of Alto Araguaia, with an estimated investment of R$ 300 million.
