The medication, called Ozivy, was developed by the pharmaceutical company EMS and will begin sales on June 15, according to information released by the company and reported by g1.

The arrival of the new product occurs after the expiration of the patent of the component used in Ozempic pens, opening space for new versions in the country.
Anvisa’s approval paved the way for sales
The National Health Surveillance Agency, Anvisa, approved Ozivy on May 26, allowing its commercialization in Brazil.
With this, the medication became the first analogous copy of an original biological product approved for sale in the national market.
Moreover, Anvisa is still analyzing another six semaglutide projects, which shows the advancement of competition in this segment.
The regulatory approval thus represents an important milestone for the Brazilian pharmaceutical sector and for the weight loss pen market.
Lower price draws market attention
The initial price of Ozivy will be R$ 452, almost half the value practiced by some brand versions currently available.
Additionally, EMS presented a special plan for the first three months of treatment, called Programa Vida + Leve.
According to information obtained by g1, the program will offer pens for a 90-day treatment for R$ 863.23.
Thus, the initial average monthly cost will be around R$ 287, considering the doses planned for this first period.
After this stage, however, the medication will cost R$ 489, according to the values reported by the company.
National distribution will have more than 500 thousand pens
In this first supply cycle, EMS is expected to place more than 500 thousand pens in the Brazilian market.
The units will be distributed in pharmacies in different regions of the country, expanding the presence of the medication in retail networks.
Furthermore, the vice-president of EMS, Marcus Sanchez, stated that the price considers two central points.
According to him, the strategy aims to expand access to treatment while maintaining attractive margins for pharmacies and networks.
This combination, therefore, reinforces the company’s attempt to gain ground in a market that already generates strong commercial interest.
Expectation is to gain ground in sales
The market expectation is that Ozivy will account for about 25% to 30% of slimming pen sales in Brazil.
Currently, branded semaglutide holds an estimated share of 10% to 15% of this segment.
Therefore, the entry of the first Brazilian pen approved by Anvisa may alter the competition among manufacturers in the coming months.
Moreover, the lower price tends to increase the attention of patients, pharmacies, and retail networks to the new product.
With sales scheduled for June 15, Ozivy arrives at a time of strong demand for semaglutide-based medications.
Now, the advancement of EMS in this market will depend on national distribution, adherence to the initial program, and consumer response in pharmacies.
Will the arrival of the Ozivy pen at a lower price permanently change the semaglutide market in Brazil?
