The Abundant Growth of Wind Energy Aims to Generate 3.3 Million New Jobs by 2025 for the Renewable Energy Industry
According to an estimate from a study by the Global Wind Energy Council published a week ago, wind energy will continue to experience record growth over the next five years, generating approximately 3.3 million jobs for the renewable energy market during this period. The installed wind energy capacity has reached 751 gigawatts (GW), and has already generated nearly 1.2 million jobs globally, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency.

Last year (2020), there were about 550,000 workers in wind energy in China, 260,000 in Brazil, 115,000 in the United States, and 63,000 in India, according to a global survey conducted by the GWEC Market Intelligence.
GWE and the Estimate of New Job Openings for the Renewable Energy Market
An estimated 470 GW is expected by 2025, potentially creating 3.3 million new job openings. According to GWEC, achieving this target will require ambitious goals in the sector, long-term planning, and a regulatory environment to ensure projects can proceed within the expected timeframe. According to the council, the impacts of the pandemic have made energy transition much more important, increasing the need for proactive reforms to enable the integration of renewable energy systems.

Forget common renewable energy: HydroWing prepares a 10 MW project in Indonesia to transform ocean currents into predictable electricity, using turbines installed on the seabed in a region where the funnel effect between islands increases tidal potential.
The council’s report also highlights that in budgets to stimulate renewable energies, such as wind energy by G20 governments since the COVID-19 pandemic, just over one-third of the funds have been allocated to renewables, which GWEC considers an insufficient volume.
Job Openings for All Genders and with Diversity by 2025
The effects of the pandemic have exerted inequalities on the system at a global level, especially regarding gender and the labor market. According to a study by GWEC, analysts indicate that policies for post-pandemic recovery and economic stimuli must be linked to a fair energy transition, which includes principles of diversity and workforce displacement.
However, female participation in these sectors is still small, and the new jobs generated by the energy transition could follow the same old patterns. According to studies from IRENA, as of January 2020, women held only 21% of jobs in wind energy. In renewable energies in general, they represent 32%, and in traditional energy industries, they account for 22%.
Job Creation in Wind Energy in Brazil
Brazil reached 18 GW of installed wind energy capacity in February, with approximately 700 energy generation parks. According to a study by the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (Abeeólica), between 2011 and 2019, wind energy generated nearly 500,000 jobs per year in Brazil.
Northeast to Receive New Million-Dollar Investment in the Wind Energy Sector from Renewable Energy Trader 2W
2W Energia will invest approximately R$ 950 million in the Northeast, constructing two wind energy parks: one in Ceará and another in Rio Grande do Norte, further boosting the Brazilian renewable energy sector.
The investment strategy in wind energy in the Northeast is due to strong growth in the free energy market, where clients with high demand can negotiate prices and supplies with traders.
The company expects that in about 2 months, mobilization for the construction of the first wind energy park in the Northeast will begin in Anemus, Rio Grande do Norte, with 139 megawatts and a completion date expected for September 2022. The other investment will be the wind energy plant located in Kairós, Ceará, with 42 megawatts, expected to start construction by the end of the second half, around December.
The renewable energy company secured a mezzanine loan of US$ 45 million from Darby International Capital. US$ 35 million will be used for the Anemus wind energy project. The Kairós project is expected to use the remaining loan amount. The company expects to receive funding from Banco do Nordeste for the works, which will have a total investment of R$ 950 million.
