Energy Company Eneva Integrates with Focus Energia to Accelerate Growth in Renewable Energy Generation and Distribution in Brazil
In a public announcement this past Wednesday, the 15th, Eneva discussed the incorporation of the company Focus Energia. This incorporation is essentially a ‘takeover,’ where Eneva will assume Focus Energia’s customer base, as well as the entire portfolio of the company’s renewable projects, which total 3.7 gigawatt-peak (GWp) of already installed capacity. The negotiation was made for around R$ 960 million. In an interview regarding this significant news, Eneva reported that the idea is to diversify energy sources, as well as business models, in a strategic approach to growth and energy transition, achieving increasingly cleaner, more economical, and efficient energy, according to company executives.

Eneva reported that Focus Energia operates in three business lines: electricity trading, energy generation, and distributed generation. The entire generation portfolio of Focus Energia consists of two operating assets and a pipeline of central and distributed generation, located in the states of Minas Gerais, Bahia, and Rio Grande do Sul.
Among the company’s best projects are Parque Futura 1, 2, and 3, designed for the state of Bahia. When commissioned, the Futura 1 project will be the largest solar energy generation complex in Brazil, with an installed capacity of approximately 670 MW, according to information provided by Eneva.

Integration of Focus Energia into Eneva Brings Complementation and Improvement in Solar Energy Generation and Distribution Services in Brazil
According to Pedro Zinner, president of Eneva, evaluating the processes for incorporating Focus Energia was categorized as an excellent opportunity to obtain a very attractive return, as well as to promote a combination of complementary business lines between the two companies—which are now one.
Zinner emphasized that Eneva believes this opportunity will accelerate the implementation of the company’s strategy to solve common problems in the energy distribution sector more quickly and efficiently.
Future of Eneva and Focus Energia in the Brazilian Renewable Energy Market
After the integration of Focus Energia, the business will now be put to a general assembly in both companies and the entire operation will be submitted to the Administrative Council for Economic Defense – CADE, according to Eneva’s executive team.
The company also emphasized, during the announcement, that Focus Energia began its operations as an energy distributor and generator in 2015 and that, at the beginning of 2021, it made its initial public offering (IPO), with the main goal of financing its pipeline of renewable projects that are part of its portfolio.
The acquisition of Focus Energia by Eneva is expected to significantly accelerate the progress of already scheduled and approved projects, which will serve to keep up with the growth of the renewable energy market, with a forecast of over 170% by 2030, according to research conducted by Eneva’s board.
