These plants can be developed by importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) or by building national natural gas infrastructure. One of these projects is the Nossa Senhora de Fátima thermal power plant (1,355 MW), located in the city of Macaé, Rio de Janeiro, developed by Natural Energia.

Eneva has been authorized by CADE – Administrative Council for Economic Defense to acquire 75% of the shares of Nossa Senhora de Fátima and has closed an agreement with multinational BP, which operates in the oil and gas sector, for the supply of imported liquefied natural gas.

The company’s first target is the North and Northeast markets, where Eneva seeks industrial customers interested in replacing diesel with natural gas. The idea is to take advantage of the natural gas reserve from the Azulão project and utilize LNG distributed by trucks to serve new customers.

Camila Schoti, General Manager of Trading and Marketing at Eneva, says, “We can provide continuous supply to many customers in this region and also contribute to decarbonization.”

Brazil’s energy giant, Eneva, has won the bid against 3R Petroleum for a set of seven onshore oil fields, called the Urucu Pole, located in the Solimões Basin in the state of Amazonas.

According to Petrobras, “the signing of the sale contracts is subject to the success of negotiations, which involve commercial and contractual aspects of the transaction to be approved by the decision-making bodies of both parties.”
