Equinor Won Petrobras’ Tender and Acquired 500 Thousand Barrels of Oil from the Atapu Field in the Pre-Salt of the Santos Basin.
Equinor emerged victorious in the tender by Petrobras by acquiring a shipment of 500 thousand barrels of oil from the Union, arising from the production sharing contract of the Atapu field, located in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin.
Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) reported that the shipment will be available at the end of September. The Norwegian company offered the highest price for the oil from the Union based on the Reference Price established by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
Equinor’s First Competitive Participation
Nine companies that already operate in the pre-salt were invited to participate in the tender, of which six registered. However, only Equinor and Petrobras effectively participated in the competition, submitting proposals. It is important to emphasize that this was the first time the Norwegian company took part in a competitive process for the purchase of oil from the Union.

This is the second shipment sold by PPSA from the production sharing contract of the excess volumes from the onerous assignment of Atapu. The first shipment was also negotiated via direct sale by PPSA, being purchased by Galp, totaling 500 thousand barrels.
