New Duster: A Compact And Powerful SUV Equipped With A 1.3L Turbo Flex-Fuel Engine With Up To 170 Horsepower And 275 Nm Of Torque To Haunt Hyundai Creta And Toyota Yaris Cross

The Renault Duster, one of the best-selling SUVs in Europe, has undergone a major overhaul, launching a new generation that promises to revolutionize the compact SUV segment. Hyundai Creta and Toyota Yaris Cross should be careful; this latest version is ready to become a strong competitor in the Brazilian SUV market.

Dacia, the Romanian parent company and subsidiary of Renault, is determined to provide a significant advancement in both design and technology that promises to win the hearts of Brazilians.

New Duster Is The First Model In The Line To Be Built On The Same Platform As The New Captur, The Latest Kicks, The New Kadjar, And The New Mitsubishi X-Force

The third generation of the Duster is the first model in the line to be built on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-B modular platform, the same architecture that supports a variety of models, including the new Captur, the latest Kicks, the new Kadjar, and the new Mitsubishi X-Force.

This shift to a shared platform represented a strategic alliance between the Renault, Nissan, and Mitsubishi brands, offering greater economies of scale and the potential for enhanced capabilities.

Impressive Exterior Design: The New Mini SUV From Renault Comes With Hidden Door Handles In The C Pillars

Visually, the new Duster is a significant change from its predecessor, featuring a more modern and robust appearance. The front includes a grille that connects the headlights, which now utilize full-LED technology and a distinctive Y-shaped lighting signature.Yaris Cross

The muscular front bumper incorporates gray accents and air intakes, further emphasizing the SUV’s rugged character. On the sides, the Duster features hidden door handles in the C pillars, adding a touch of elegance, while the roof rails are accentuated, giving it a commanding presence.Yaris Cross

Increased Dimensions And Improved Practicality

In terms of dimensions, the new Duster maintains a similar overall length of 4.34 meters, but the wheelbase has been slightly reduced from 2.67 to 2.65 meters. However, the interior layout has been optimized, resulting in a more spacious cabin despite the shorter wheelbase. The width has increased from 1.80 to 1.88 meters, and the height has grown by 1 centimeter, now measuring 1.69 meters. The trunk capacity is also impressive, with 475 liters of baggage space.Yaris Cross

Hybrid Engine Options That Combine A 1.6L Naturally Aspirated Gasoline Engine With Two Electric Motors And A 1.2 kWh Battery

One of the most significant advancements in the new Duster is the introduction of hybrid engine options. Buyers will have the choice between a full hybrid system and a mild hybrid configuration. The full hybrid system combines a 1.6L naturally aspirated gasoline engine with two electric motors and a 1.2 kWh battery, delivering a total power of 140 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. This hybrid system promises excellent fuel efficiency, with an estimated average consumption of 24.5 km/l, equivalent to 980 km on a full tank.Yaris Cross

The mild hybrid variant combines a 1.2L turbo gasoline engine with a 48V electric motor, producing a combined power of 130 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque. This configuration is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and can also be combined with a six-speed manual gearbox.Yaris Cross

For the Brazilian market, the new Duster 2026 dropped from 170 hp to 163 hp on ethanol, a reduction to comply with the new Brazilian emission standards. Renault has yet to reveal the figures for the 1.6L naturally aspirated engine, whether it remains at 118/120 hp and 16.2 kgfm, or the numbers for the 1.3L turbo when supplied with gasoline.Cross

New Duster: Cutting-Edge Technology And Safety Features

The new Duster is set to impress with its comprehensive list of features and technologies. The cabin includes a configurable 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an electronic parking brake, and a joystick-style gear lever. The infotainment system comes in variants with an 8-inch or 10-inch touchscreen, offering seamless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.Yaris Cross

In terms of safety, the Duster has made a significant leap, offering features previously unseen in this segment. These include adaptive cruise control (ACC), collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, automatic high beams, lane departure alert with lane keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems.Yaris Cross

New Mini SUV From Renault Is Cheaper Than Hyundai Creta And Toyota Yaris Cross

The third generation of the Renault Duster hit the Brazilian market in 2025, positioned above the newly launched Renault Kadjar in the brand’s lineup. Cheaper than the Hyundai Creta and Toyota Yaris Cross, the Renault Duster 2026 is still sold in the same four versions, with prices ranging from R$ 132,990 to R$ 165,890, with the Iconic Plus 1.3 turbo being the only one with the optional Pack Outsider (R$ 1,800), which adds front auxiliary lights, gray moldings, and side trims with orange details, making it an attractive proposition in the compact SUV segment. Yaris Cross

With its striking design, hybrid engine options, and extensive list of safety features and technologies, the brand-new Duster is ready to redefine expectations of what a compact SUV can offer. As Dacia continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in this segment, the Brazilian market eagerly awaits the arrival of this highly anticipated model.Yaris Cross
