Recently, PetroRecôncavo, one of the leading independent producers of oil and gas, announced a US$ 60 million investment (approximately R$ 340 million) in the construction of a new Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN) in the Miranga district, in Pojuca. This investment not only represents the largest in a single industrial facility of the company but also marks a vital advancement in the midstream segment, which involves the transportation, storage, and processing of hydrocarbons, according to correio24horas.

The arrival of new investments is a breath of hope for the Bahian economy, which was once one of Brazil’s main oil production hubs. The Bahia has previously produced more than 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, but this production has currently fallen to around 40,000 boe/day.
