“At ExxonMobil, we understand the importance of private initiative in urgently helping communities with the greatest needs. We want to be a contributing part of this process”, said Juan Lessmann, president of ExxonMobil in Brazil.

The oil company is currently the operator of nine blocks in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin and plans to start its exploration campaign in the second half of 2021.

Exxonmobil will allocate R$ 287.500 for the donation of basic food baskets in Sergipe

In this stage of the assistance action, Exxonmobil will allocate R$ 287.500 for the donation of basic food baskets with basic nutrition and hygiene items. The donations are part of the campaign “Balaio Solidário – Sergipe Sem Fome” and will be carried out through the support of the Rahamim Institute, an Organized Civil Society of assistance character active in the state.

“The Rahamim Institute has been working for 20 years in the development of communities in a situation of social vulnerability in Sergipe and, throughout the crisis brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, we are looking for solutions to alleviate the suffering of families in greater vulnerability. ExxonMobil's contribution will bring great relief to Sergipe families in a state of severe food insecurity,” said Cristiano Lima, founder and CEO of Instituto Rahamim.

The identification of families to be assisted by the campaign was carried out by volunteer partners of the Institute who carry out social mapping in the region. The basket distribution plan covers the municipalities of Aracajú, Barra dos Coqueiros, Lagarto, Laranjeiras, Nossa Senhora da Glória, Nossa Senhora do Socorro, Poço Redondo, Porto da Folha, Salgado and Neópolis.

Distribution will be organized in accordance with health protocols to prevent Covid-19, with body temperature measurement, use of masks and 70% ethyl alcohol, in addition to social distancing in cases of collective delivery.
