Cybersteel, a partner of GE in this project, will be responsible for integrating the General Electric (GE) generator with the turbine responsible for renewable energy generation at the Incauca SAS sugarcane plant, located in Cauca, Colombia.
The director of GE Power Conversion for Latin America, Rodrigo Elias, expressed enthusiasm about working with Incauca SAS and Cybersteel to provide a critical solution for the energy needs of the Colombian grid.
Operation of GE Equipment at the Renewable Energy Plant in Colombia
The process of generating energy from sugarcane occurs through steam production, where the cane bagasse, which is burned in a boiler, generates the steam that will drive a turbine coupled to the GE Power Conversion generator, the largest ever installed at the Colombian plant in Incauca.
This solid pole generator from GE will assist both the Incauca plant and the Colombian grid in providing vital energy for the population, while also utilizing the waste from bagasse for a more sustainable use of renewable energy.
