Online Classes with Live Meetings in the Evening
Classes take place in a remote environment and are conducted in the evenings, which tends to accommodate those who study or work during the day, as the meetings have been scheduled for weekdays and with a defined duration per class.
Although the course is remote, the proposal described for the EaD modality of the campus combines real-time monitoring and planned activities throughout the weeks, organized similarly to other extension courses offered by IFSP.
Still within the campus schedule and local communications, the start of classes for the first-semester extension offering was indicated for the second half of March, mentioning an online opening class on March 14.
English Classes, Levels, and Available Times
The 90 spots announced for English are divided into three classes, with 30 spots in each level, and the meetings have been distributed throughout the week, always in the evening, to reduce schedule conflicts between modalities.
The division by levels seeks to accommodate different knowledge profiles, allowing candidates to choose the class compatible with their own proficiency, respecting the prerequisites established in the notice and the pedagogical design of the course.
Requirements by Level and Participation Criteria
In the Pre-Intermediate 1 module, the requirement is basic knowledge of the language, while the intermediate classes require completion of the previous module or equivalent proof, with a higher level reference for Intermediate 2.
On the other hand, anyone wishing to apply for one of the intermediate classes needs to carefully observe the compatibility of the level, as the proposal is to form classes with similar proficiency to proceed with the content at the expected pace.
Selection Without Exam and Evaluation of the Letter of Interest
Ranking is done by analyzing a letter of interest, with no exam applied, following the procedure indicated by the Capivari Campus for EaD extension courses, with guidance that the text be submitted at the time of registration.
According to materials reproducing the rules of the process, this letter must contain between 150 and 450 words and needs to explain professional motivations, availability to attend classes, and the relevance of the course to the candidate’s education.
The evaluation provides a maximum score of 100 points and considers both the content and the use of standard Portuguese language norms, which makes the clarity of the text and the coherence of the arguments decisive for the position on the list.
Reservation of Spots and Affirmative Actions
The process also provides for the reservation of spots for affirmative actions and for people with disabilities, according to publications that describe the content of the notice, but the percentage detailing of this distribution could not be confirmed with certainty from an accessible official source.
How to Register for the Free English Course at IFSP
Registration is free and must be done exclusively online, via the electronic form indicated by the Capivari Campus, within the informed deadline.
