Federal University of Pará (UFPA) Opens 150 Vacancies for Free Specialization Course in Earth and Environmental Science Teaching, Distance Learning Mode.

The Federal University of Pará (UFPA), in partnership with the Open University System of Brazil (UAB), announced the opening of applications for the specialization course in Earth and Environmental Science Teaching. The mode is completely free and takes place at a distance, providing flexibility for participants.
With a total of 150 vacancies distributed among five physical campuses, the initiative promises to strengthen academic training and broaden opportunities in the educational market.

Free Specialization with Certification Recognized by MEC
According to UFPA, the course aims to train teachers and other education professionals to teach topics related to the environment and earth sciences.
With a total workload of 360 hours, the specialization will be conducted primarily in a Virtual Learning Environment (AVA), with scheduled in-person meetings.
The expectation is that classes will start on March 25, 2025, with an estimated end time in May 2026.
In addition to specific subjects, participants will have to develop a Final Course Work (TCC), guided by professors with a doctoral degree.
Distribution of Vacancies and Physical Campuses
The 150 vacancies available are distributed among five physical campuses in the state of Pará, each with 28 regular vacancies and 2 vacancies reserved for people with disabilities (PcD). Check the distribution:
- Bragança: 28 vacancies + 2 PcD
- Marabá: 28 vacancies + 2 PcD
- Pacajá: 28 vacancies + 2 PcD
- Tucumã: 28 vacancies + 2 PcD
- Ponta de Pedras: 28 vacancies + 2 PcD
At the time of registration, the candidate must select only one of the physical campuses.
Who Can Apply for UFPA’s Specialization?
To compete for a vacancy in the specialization course, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a basic education teacher working in public or private networks, or working in public or private agencies;
- Reside in the state of Pará;
- Hold a higher education diploma (Licentiate, Bachelor’s or Technological) recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC);
- Not be enrolled in another undergraduate or graduate course at UFPA.
Moreover, interested parties must prove employment links with a public or private institution at the time of registration.
Selection Process and Evaluation Criteria
The selection of candidates will be based on curriculum analysis, according to the scoring criteria established in the notice. The main aspects evaluated include:
- Functional situation: public network teachers receive higher scores;
- Professional experience;
- Academic publications and participation in scientific events.
The final score will be defined by the sum of the points obtained in each criterion. In case of a tie, the following factors will be considered as tie-breaking criteria:
- Longest public service;
- Longest private sector experience;
- Age, prioritizing candidates aged 60 or older.
The final result will be announced on March 18, 2025, and registrations must be conducted between March 19 and 24, 2025.
