The Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro launched a program requesting tax easing for the state, amid the coronavirus crisis

Last Monday, Firjan (Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro) launched a program to support productive resilience, with actions that integrate the municipality and the state to contain the damage to the Rio de Janeiro economy caused by the coronavirus.

According to the entity's idea, the measures are to guarantee supply to the population, jobs and the financial health of companies in Rio de Janeiro.

According to the document, among the proposals, the federation suggests the suspension of state law n° 8.645/2019, which established the Temporary Budget Fund (FOT). “With the expected downturn in the economy and the difficulties faced by companies, the increase in the tax burden due to the institution of the FOT is unaffordable for the moment”, he considered.

Firjan also proposed extending the deadlines for payment of state and municipal taxes by 180 days, such as ICMS and ISS. Still, the institution calls for the temporary suspension of restrictions on the circulation of cargo vehicles in the capitals of Rio, such as the circulation limit for cargo vehicles and loading and unloading operations. The federation also requests the temporary suspension of the resolution of ANTT Nº 2.294, which limits the circulation hours of cargo vehicles on the Rio-Niterói Bridge.
