Foxconn Announces Construction of New Semiconductor Chip Factory in Latin America. In Partnership with Nvidia, This Will Be the Largest Semiconductor Factory in the World.

Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics contractor, known for partnerships with giants like Apple and Nvidia, announced on Tuesday (08) the construction of a new factory in Latin America. This project promises to be revolutionary, with the facility becoming the largest semiconductor chip factory on the planet, focused on the production of “superchips.” The initiative marks a new chapter in the company’s expansion, aiming to strengthen its presence in the global high-tech market and meet the growing demand for high-performance chips.

New Semiconductor Chip Factory Will Be Built in Mexico

The announcement of Foxconn’s new factory in Latin America was made by Benjamin Ting, Senior Vice President of the company for the cloud business solutions group, during Hon Hai Technology Day, the annual event of the Taiwanese company showcasing technological innovations.

The executive did not disclose the exact location of the largest semiconductor factory in the world. However, Foxconn’s president, Young Liu, told reporters that the facility in Latin America is being set up in Mexico. The new semiconductor chip factory aims to produce the GB200, superchips that are part of Nvidia’s Blackwell B200 line.

In March, the company announced the launch of the new chip for the AI segment. The technology is primarily used for training artificial intelligence models. The expectation is that the new semiconductor chip factory will be launched later this year. According to Ting, the company is building the largest semiconductor factory in the world for the production of the GB200.

In August, Nvidia stated that it had begun shipping samples of Blackwell chips to partners and customers after adjusting the product design and expected several billion dollars in revenue from these microprocessors in the fourth quarter.

Foxconn Has Already Invested Over US$ 500 Million in Mexico

Ting states that the partnership between Foxconn and Nvidia is essential and that the demand for Blackwell chips is high. According to the executive at the company’s event, alongside Nvidia’s Vice President for AI and Robotics, Deepu Talla, the demand is tremendously high. Foxconn already has a significant presence in Mexico and has invested over 500 million dollars so far in the state of Chihuahua.

The president of Foxconn also emphasized that the company’s supply chain is ready for Artificial Intelligence and stated that its manufacturing resources include advanced liquid cooling and heat dissipation technologies necessary to complement the GB200 server infrastructure.

The executive noted that the company’s outlook for the current quarter is strong, despite not providing details about the new semiconductor chip factory in Latin America. On Saturday, Foxconn announced the highest revenue of all time for the third quarter due to strong demand for AI servers.

Foxconn Is Also Seeking to Diversify Assembly Function

In addition to the largest conductor factory in the world, another focus of the company is its ambitious plans to diversify its assembly function from consumer electronics for Apple, hoping to use technological know-how to offer contract manufacturing of electric vehicles and also produce vehicles using models built by the Foxtron brand.

When asked about the high competition in the global electric vehicle market amid slowing demand, Liu stated that the company was committed to the sector.

According to the executive, this is the right direction, and Foxconn will continue to work hard in this direction, adding that with electric vehicles, the barrier of the engine no longer exists in automobile manufacturing. Vehicle manufacturers no longer need to build cars entirely on their own.
